i was watching this. I love the X games but its a little distubing when things like this happen, the announcer, tony hawk i believe was going crazy because his shoes flew off. Did you see scott murray wipeout attempting a double backflip?

That sums up my thoughts. (Note: I'm not being insensitive about the severity of his injuries, and you never want anything bad to happen to anyone, but he's a professional skateboarder. Wipeouts, like crashes in racing, are practically what you sign up for.)

Did anyone else see the motocross wreck? I thought that was just as bad.

any updates on his medical report?
Not to make fun of the situation, but the way his shoes fly off reminds me of the Dane Cook bit about a guy getting hit by a car (referenced in SESbb30's sig).

It's amazing that he wasn't seriously, seriously injured. The hard part about extreme sports is that wearing protective gear really hinders a person's ability to pull off amazing tricks. Think of Travis Pastrana's double backflip. There's no way he could've done that with the "proper" protective equipment (i.e. full body armor!!).

He walked away from the fall (with some help) nearly 8 minutes after he hit the deck. He was taken to an area hospital but was conscious and joking with the people around him. He couldn't remember any of his run. There hasn't been any update on his health other than that. I'm sure he's sore as hell and has some bruises. I don't know how he could've avoided cracking some ribs, but at least he didn't break his back or neck. To make a long post short, he's one lucky dude that he lived and even walked away.
