I need help accessing a datafile.

Hi everyone.

I was looking at this thread:

and I was very exicted to have a solution to the same problem I was having. So I went to my MVP 07 folder, then went to datadatafile and I tried opening the datfile (BIG file) with wordpad and notepad to edit the appropriate numbers and such.

I used CTRL+F to find the location in the text and it wouldn't come up. I noticed there was a lot of gibberish.

In short:

- Is there a certain program I should use to open and/or edit BIG files?

The datafile.txt is located inside the datafile.big in the 07 mod. You want to make changes to the datafile.txt, so you have to extract it from the datafile.big first. Use the program BigGUI to do this. After you extract it, you can open it up in your text editor and make the changes you want.

After that, you must import it back into the datafile.big using BigGUI. Once you import it back, don't forget to re-compress the datafile.txt and then rebuild the datafile.big.

Oh, sorry for not searching before asking. I usually always do in general, however, in this case, I noticed that others were having problems with this issue.
