Hideki Matsui hit his first home run of the year in this game, tying the game up a 1 a piece. Boston scored 2 in the bottom half of the inning. The game stayed 1-3 until the top of the 8th inning. We scored 3 runs making the score 4-3 us. Derek Jeter had a big 2 run scoring single in the ninth to make the score 6-3. Mariano Rivera picked up his first save of the year, giving up 1 run in the 9th. We won 6-4 to our biggest rival.

The offense is beginning to click! We scored 12 runs behind Matt DeSalvo's great pitching performance today. He allowed 1 run in 7 innings of pitching. Derek Jeter hit 2 home runs for us today and Johnny Damon also hit one. These last two games have been big for Derek. After the game, Joe Torre talked on the YES Postgame Show.

"I've been pleased with our play these last two days. Derek has had a good series with the two home runs tonight and the 2 RBI's last night. We're coming together as a team and its beginning to show."

Hideki Matsui has raised his batting average to .327. Jeter is up at .283 and Cano is at .286. Randy Johnson also picked up his first win of the year today. It was another good day for us today.

Our offense was able to score another 7 runs tonight. Robinson Cano hit a two run homer into the black seats today. That was a real confidence booster and caused us to score 2 more runs. Ron Villone almost lost us the lead in the 8th by giving up 3 runs. Mariano Rivera saved it in the 9th inning for his 3rd save of the year.

Carl Pavano pitched well for us again today. Mariano Rivera came in during the ninth inning for the save. His save was blown do to a bad call by the home plate umpire. He called ball 4 on what should have been strike three. The Blue Jays scored 2 runs in the inning, putting them up 4-3. B.J. Ryan came in to shut the door and we lost a heart breaker. Another win today. 7-11 now, only 3.5 games out of first place now. This is what I call a comeback! Alex Rodriguez had a big hit for us today in the first inning, scoring 2 runs. Chien-Ming Wang got his first win today, even after giving up a grand slam to Vernon Wells in the 6th inning. The score was 4-2 going into the bottom of the 6th inning when we scored 3 runs. The score stayed the same and Mariano picked up his 4th save of the season.

Alex Rodriguez hit a big home run in todays game for us. Jason Giambi, Alex Rios, and Robinson Cano also homered for us today. This is the first time all season that we have hit 4 home runs in one game. Another good sign is, every Yankee in the starting line-up had at least 1 base hit. 8-11, we're inching close and closer to .500. Matt DeSalvo was pitching a gem before he came out after 5 innings, giving up only one hit to Jason Phillips, who went 3-3 on the day with a home run.

Going into the top of the 10th inning, the score was tied up at 2-2. Hideki Matsui hit a homer of Chad Orvella. Kyle Farnsworth got the win and now we're 9-11. There was a lot of offense in todays game. The D-Rays and us were able to score a total of 21 runs, 12 on our side, 9 on their side. We hit a total of 5 home runs in the game, two from Hideki, and one from A-Rod, Giambi, Rios, and Jorge. I was satisfied with the win today. Ryan Shealy is also looking good for us.
