CPU Plate Selectivity

I have just installed kumala's datafile final, and used his pro sliders. At Pro Level, it was too easy. I scored like 10 runs each game, and I was walked about 7-8 times on average per game. I switched to All-Star Mode, using the same sliders, and I was still walked a lot, maybe 5 times a game, but I scored less runs - around 6-7/game.

The problem is, all my pitchers pitch complete games every time, because I only have to throw about 10 pitches per inning. The CPU is extremely not selective at the plate, and even though I have CPU Batting Contact and Power at +20, it doesn't affect the score. The CPU still scores 0-2 runs a game. I'm pitching with the Yankees.

What do I do?

Thanks.

Hey comp, I'm playing on MVP with my own sliders. I had trouble with pitchers going the distance every game so I increased the pitcher fatigue slider (I think that is the one) to make the pitchers tire early. Now my pitchers use about half the stamina (depending on certain at-bats by the comp) in the 6th inning.

Try that out and hope it helps.

Thanks for the suggestion, but if I use your method, then it'll just make my pitchers tire when they've only thrown like 50 pitches. Is there any way to still throw like 100 pitches, but have the other team be more selective?

Thanks for the suggestion though.

No, I don't think so. I've had the odd game where my starter would throw over 90 pitches in less than 8 innings, but those are very rare. I have no problem getting the CPU to throw that number of pitches, but it's almost impossible for the user. The CPU will swing at too many strikes and won't foul off enough pitches.

Do you think there's anything in the datafile that can be modified to do it? Also, how can I make the other team score more runs? The other team always only scores like 0-2 runs a game.

Do you throw strikes basically every pitch? If you do, then you may want to throw more balls on your own, or, by either datafile or sliders, make it harder for you to throw strikes.

With Kumala's DF, I find that at the beginning of games, I do really good because its easier to throw perfect strikes. But when my pitcher tires, and its harder to throw a perfect pitch, the computer will have more success against me, and I'll eventually have to go to the bullpen.

Do you use ace-type pitchers every game, with stamina levels around the mid 90s? If so, you can try using worse pitchers.

You may want to read the last few pages of this thread:

I believe this was discussed in there a bit.

I use Joba Chamberlain (Chien-Ming Wang got injured), Phil Hughes, Roger Clemens, Mike Mussina, and Andy Pettitte.

Yes, in late games, I start throwing worse, and I throw more balls. The problem is, the CPU still swings at balls, and when I throw a strike that's not very well placed, the CPU either doesn't swing, or misses it, or hits the pitch for an out.

And I use Kumala's datafile.

I believe I throw a fair amount of balls.
