RussFeathers
So I just got a new laptop, and wanted to know if.. 1.) I could transfer my old MVP dynasty save from my desktop to my laptop, it seems like I could, but i have heard of people quitting their dynasties because of new computers and stuff 2.) I only had the May Models.big Update, so would my dynasty mess up if i downloaded the May and June Update. 3.) Do i need the MVP 07 mod for May Models.big update. Basically I need someone to help point me in the direction of what to download. My laptop isnt exactly the greatest, so I dont want the modded stadiums and uniforms. wrigleyville33
i can answer the first, you can definitely transfer you old dynasty using an external hardrive... but there is probably an easier way to do it
GEOLINK
yeah just host the dynasty file on a downloading site, copy down the site and then download it onto ur computer.
meteamo
yeah just host the dynasty file on a downloading site, copy down the site and then download it onto ur computer. Or if you or a friend has a flash drive for temp storage. Aren't dynasty saves located in the My Documents folder? There may be more info in the forums and you can search it if nobody else replies. Good luck.
RussFeathers
Yeah thats what i thought. I can just use my flash drive. But i guess i would need to get a models.big file that is the same as the one in my dynasty.
apridham
Can't you just copy the models.big file from your pc? Actually, you should be able to copy over the MVP 2005 folders from both Program Files and My Documents and paste them into the same place on your laptop. That should work. maxbjr
just copy the models.big file from your old computor on a flash drive, then over write the file on your new laptop.
RussFeathers
Thats a good idea. So basically i should just move the models.big file. Is that it? Because all i want is to get my dyansty that works on my desktop to work on my laptop.
apridham
You will need to copy your dynasty file as well.
RussFeathers
Cool, thanks, it worked. I am able to play in my dynasty just fine. Now my next question is what file do I need if i want to obtain my old portraits and old rosters. If im right i think the rosters are the database folder? apridham
I am not sure about the portraits, but I believe you are correct about the Rosters.
IronicMan
Or if you have a router, just set up a network.
Homer
portraits are in the portraits.big file, which is inside the frontend folder. why just save yourself the trouble and copy and save the entire mvp folder?
meteamo
Homer's right (DOH!) If you have the room via flash drive or if you set up a network, you should find everything you need in the My Documents MVP Baseball folder as well as the Program Files MVP Baseball folder. After you re-install the game on the new machine, which I guess you did already ... you can just overwrite everything you copied from the old machine. Or if you know what mods you installed over the original, you can do the same. The dynasty save files should be located in the My Documents MVP Baseball folder. But as you did already, make sure the plain vanilla version of the game works okay before you start copying over or installing any mods. Best of luck. RussFeathers
why just save yourself the trouble and copy and save the entire mvp folder? I dont think my laptop will be able to handle the stadiums and uniforms. So now all i need to download is the "hard" pitching meter" which is in the datafile folder? apridham
What do you have for a laptop?
RussFeathers
I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T61. I tried running it with a stadium mod, and it was ok, but not that great. So rather than deal with some stuttering i decided it would be better without some mods.
apridham
Ok. I would have to agree with you there. Unfortunately I can not help you out on your last question.
RussFeathers
Thanks, apridham and everyone else. I have everything working great on my laptop. Not as flashy as it was on my desktop, but thats fine. My only problem is the messed up first basemen glove, which is red with green writing on it. So my absolute final question is what file has the updated gloves, so i can test to see if my laptop can handle it. Thanks
maxbjr
that would be in your uniforms.big file, but since you have limited graphics on your laptop.... just download spungo's glove mod ver 5.0 and install that.
Homer
it's actually not the uniforms.big file. the fielding gloves are in the initistaz.big/initistay.big file. inside will be the fsh for the gloves.
IronicMan
Isn't a X3100 is sufficient for MVP05?
RussFeathers
Ok, well thanks guy for the help. Its funny because the game stutters a little even without any mods. But I'm happy with it.
Homer
yeah the stuttering occurs without mods. have you installed the official ea patch 3? a lot of people find it helps.
