superciuc
If yes, did you like it? I think it's wonderful.
abc006
You know I have. And it was wonderful, it's a great place not only to see sights but just to relax and settle into a "Mediterranean routine", so much different from America.

In summer i just relax. Especially in my town you can relax, no noise. It's totally different from New York. You eat well too (Naples's pizzas are a must-eat). abc006
Well, just the basic routine is so different - in Italy it seems you wake up early, have lunch about noon or one, take a mid afternoon "siesta", have dinner around nine, stroll around until midnight, go to bed at one, no matter the day, season, or age. While in America, there's just so much more restriction on everything.
superciuc
I love the "siesta". We call it "pisolino" wich means "a little sleep". Hey abc, did you like the food in Italy? I think it's pretty good.

I've been to most of Western Europe, and it's much more laid back than in America. France and Sweden especially. The best example is coffee shops and restaurants; in Italy and other parts of Europe, people will be eating dinner in restaurants and socializing there much longer in the night than in America, where turnover is forced by the restaurant. Eat dinner after 8, leave after 11.
abc006
Yeah, I've been all around Europe, but in Italy especially you would see people walking around the town with kids in strollers at midnight. I've lived two years in Israel, and it's not exactly the same - Not only is it a different culture (though it's closer to western europe than the US or western europe, or even the middle east - israel's kind of unique in that sense), but the political climate kind of forces you not to have quite that laid back sensibility all the time like in Italy. In Spain, you have a snack at ten, then have dinner as late as eleven. While Americans still eat dinner at 6:30.
