MVP Baseball 1880

First off, I'm new here so I'm sorry if I'm saying anything stupid here. I have read all th FAQs and tutorials but still need some help. I don't actully own MVP 2005 for the PC yet (I own it for PS2 but the disk gave out once and for all last week, RIP) but I plan to buy it soon once I find a copy for 5$-10$. I've downloaded MVPedit but I can't really use it until I get myself a copy of MVP. From what I've seen, I think I could manage with MVPedit but I'm sure I will need more programs than that and I have limited expreince with stuff like that. But what I'm interested in doing is making a mod that goes wayyy back, all the way to MVP. If anyone would offer to help if I decide to try to make it, It would be appreciated. Some notes:

1.The Obvious stuff, the mound was only 50 feet away, the pitches couldn't throw from above thier waist, there was 8 balls instead of 4, etc.., But if this stuff isin't possible, it could be ignored.

2.All the historical stuff, I could most likely take care of it. Some of the stadiums from back then don't have photos available online, but I could probably either find some or just guestamate what they would look like from descriptions. But I could most likely get photos of most of the players, Ballparks, etc..,

3.The actual physical movements of the players would have to be edited. Back in the day, they threw underhand on pitches and the pitches had limited speed and movement. And the SS weren't making unbelivable acrobatic plays and throws.

4.The league structure was obviously diffrent. They only had 8 teams,etc..,

So, could it be done? :yernuts:

1 and 3 aren't possible. at least to no one's knowledge at this site. getting the game for that cheap might not be possible either :) it's in pretty good demand these days because of the crew at sites like this. anyhow, welcome to the site. check out threads and downloads on classic mods. there's a few of them here that might peak your interest.

that really is a no deal.

simply because no one knows players from that century and I'm guessing there is no pictures or information of minor league teams. (sorry if im wrong)

Haha. I once recommended making an MVP 1887 mod, for much of the same reasons. I think someone said that changing the distance of the mound is impossible. If you need people to throw underhand, make them throw underhand (what is that? style 10?). I've made Al Spalding and Tim Keefe with it; seems fine. Remember that even back then people were bending the rules and throwing above the waist, so you could get away with some overhanders or sidearmers.

Not too many people may know the players from back then, but there are historical records and statistics about them.

You can ignore the minor league team slots. If a history buff like kckidd gets 8 1880 teams in MLB slots to choose from, I'm sure he'd be happy.

Thanks everyone. Even though 1/3 are impossible, I'm still interested in making a mod with modern rules.

Darkslide820 is right, I would be fine with just 8 teams w/o minors. Even if I couldn't do a dynasty or what ever, I could still unofficially do one with exhibition games.
