Can anybody just make for alpha images for me?

I'm doing a Padres overlay, and when I make an alpha it needs to be 8-bit, and i can only go as low as 16. I'm certainly not pro at alpha, so here are the four images i need alphas for. The first one must be 0000-a.bmp, then 0001-a.bmp etc. and they must be 8-bit alphas, not 16 or 24. Somebody please help!

I will do it because those images are very easy to make alphas for since there is a solid black backround.

what are you using that you can't make it 8bit?

I have Photoshop CS2, so I'm not sure why it won't do it. Thanks Piston, I really appreciate it. I'm doing a Padres season, and I'm just making it a little better by customizing the ESPN Overlay- all props to Trues for making such a sick overlay. Here are some pictures of what I've done.

The Main Scoreboard-

Thanks again for all your help guys. And yeah, I made the blue squares white so it becomes an alpha, but I can't save it as an 8-bit. So that's where I'm stuck.

By the way, I've looked at portrait tutorials and thats how I made the alpha, but once again it's the 8-bit part thats owning me.

What mode is your image set to? It must be in grayscale for you to create an alpha image.
