Guildster
Should work fine. Make sure your cooling is adequate. Enjoy!
Campo09
yes cooling is a big issue, i bought a very nice graphics card for my old computer which did not have a decent fan so it overheated and ruined my whole computer.
flash007
change of plans i can get this card: GeForce FX 5500 256MB or this one NVIDIA GeForce 6200 128MB, i hate my country, when you need something nobody have it...
IronicMan
6200 is NOT, I repeat, NOT for gamers. Since you need AGP card, I recommend this. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814102701 However, this card is recertified, which mean it's not new. But with newegg, it's pretty easy to do an RMA.
flash007
well thanks, i didn't buy the 6200 ^^ doesn't work on my motherboard, so maybe the x1600 will not work either =(...i'm going to buy a new PC first ^^
dannyt
I need some opinions about a video card. I have a Dell Dimension 4500. It has an Intel Pentium 4, 2.00 GHz, 1.0 GB Ram. My current card is a Radeon 9600. My game stutters just a bit with certain stadiums, but it can handle everything on the highest settings. What is the best card I could get for around $100? I'm also looking to upgrade for NBA Live 08. Thanks!

dannyt
Thanks. All of those are compatible with my comp and the game?
evil1182
It has to be a AGP card, not PCI-E or PCI.

If I were you I'd get the X1950, but a lot of windows games favor NVIDIA a lot so that's up to you.
evil1182
It depends on what type of games your going to be playing, I use a 9600xt and my sports games run fine, but if your a hardcore gamer than listen to KC.

It depends. My 9800XT chugs MVP along nicely but it is still not running as smooth as I would like for it to be with all the mods, I must admit. However for the time being those are the top of the line AGP cards at this point since most companies will cease making AGP cards and move towards PCI-Express. evil1182
Really? I get 35-40 fps with my AA cranked up and my AF at 4-6x, that's good for MVP and Madden runs at 60fps I think. How fast is your processor?
Kccitystar
My computer is 3 years old so things may sound kind of antique: Athlon XP 2200+ (1.8ghz), 1GB RAM, using Catalyst 7.9 with all my settings maxed
dannyt
I only play two games. MVP Baseball and NBA Live. I've done most of the upgrades I know of short of getting a new processor, but my comp is still getting on in years. With all the wonderful mods you all put out my little video card is slipping just a bit. So as long as I can play those two games with the best possible graphics then I'm happy. So i guess I have to decide between KC's two suggestions
evil1182
My system is five years old with P4 1.8 ghz and 768 Ram, I'm still using the old 7.4 catalyst, your HDD could slow things down if it's chugging, I just fried my two HDD's, so no gaming for me on my crappy notebook. So i guess I have to decide between KC's two suggestions If those are the only games you play then there's no need to upgrade, EA never updates their graphics so system requirements are always the same. But for 100 bucks it's not a bad idea to upgrade.
evil1182
What is Catalyst 7.9 and would it be of any use to me? It's an updated driver, it could help, but I never upgrade unless I'm having some issues. these games are old, so, it might not really help. What driver are you currently using? you could check by type in dxdiag in the cmd prompt
dannyt
It says my main driver is ati2dvag.dll version 6.14 date:3/25/2005 MVP is old, but I'm hoping I'll be able to handle NBA 08 with all the highest graphics I can get.

dannyt
ok, do I need both the catalyst software suite and the display driver? here's the link I'm on http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst...p=xp/radeonx-xp Check that. I guess I'll just download the whole suite
