NJNetsJasonKidd
ESPN Preseason Interview with Willie Randolph and David Wright: Dan Patrick: Hello Willie and Dave, and thanks for coming on the show! Willie Randolph: No problem. David Wright: Thanks for having us. DP: Going into this season you will be starting off against the same team that send you away looking last year, how do you feel about watching them give out the rings. DW: Well, heres the thing. Theres not much that we can do about that now. That was the past. What we can do is show the Cards that this year we're putting them away, and we dont plan on helping them retreat. DP: Willie, I noticed in your last few Spring Training games you have (Shawn) Green at the bottom of the order, against both lefties and righties. Care to explain? WR: Sure. Shawn hasnt been hitting the ball to well during March, so im going to have him towards the bottom to try and prevent the rallies from being killed. Not to say he isnt a good player, but I want him to know that his job is not secure. We have a young man in the minor leagues named Milledge who would be more than happy to take his shot at the majors. DP: After killing the Braves last year in your season series, what do you expect to do in the division, and also in the playoffs? DW: Well, we need to be setting our expectations for ourselves high. That way if we do miss, we will still be up there as a team. With the finish of 97-65 last year, im shooting for 105-110 wins this year. That should be able to lock up home field advantage for us. DP: Last question guys, your rivals across town. How do you see them doing this year? WR: Well the Yankees are a fine ballclub run by a fine manager. Their staff is a little more mature then most, but they will need to be getting nice outings from the 4/5 starters. But offense shouldnt be their problem...
