Youngest Balentien called up for Jose Guillen. The outfielder is 22 and considered to be a decent prospect. He was hitting 278 with 4 HRs in triple A. Guillen has begun serving his 25 game sentence.

Padres 4

W-Washburn

L- Young

Recap- The young ens were the story of this one, as three rookies got the start, batting right in the heart of the order. Adam Jones showed his five tool talent by going 3 for 4 with an RBI. New starter Jacoby Ellsbury was 2-3, and new call up Wladimir Balentien was 2-4 with 2 RBIS. The rookies thrived with there opportunity, which may give the manager a new idea of a lineup, and the GM the potential to trade some veterans. Washburn picked up the win, his eighth. The team struggled at all phases a little bit, but the bats were effective enough.
