abc006
Greg Oden will miss his rookie season after KNEE surgery: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070913/ap_on_...il_blazers_oden PORTLAND, Ore. - Greg Oden, the top pick in this year's NBA draft, likely will miss his first season with the Portland Trail Blazers after surgery on his right knee Thursday. ADVERTISEMENT Doctors found cartilage damage during an exploratory procedure, and team physician Dr. Don Roberts performed microfracture surgery to repair the damage. "There are things about this that are positive for Greg. First of all, he is young. The area where the damage was is small and the rest of his knee looked normal," Roberts said in a statement. "All those are good signs for a complete recovery from microfracture surgery." The 7-foot center is expected to be on crutches for up to eight weeks. Full recovery likely will take six to 12 months, the team said... Obviously a setback, but once he's healed, he'll be 100%, so really the Blazers will just have to sit on their hands for a year. Tigers94
I'm not sure he will be 100%, a lot of times people have said that, and they haven't been the same after their surgery. Then again, they were all older than him.

abc006
whoops, that would be a typo. He isn't overrated, you've got to remember he was playing almost all of the season injured, he'll be even better when he's healthy.

DoubleD
whoops, that would be a typo. He isn't overrated, you've got to remember he was playing almost all of the season injured, he'll be even better when he's healthy. National Championship game anyone? 25 points (67% FG, 63% FT), 12 REB, 4 BLK and a STL, only 2 TO... He was absolutely dominant in that game (though luckily us Gators, everyone else on the team struggled), and that's against two top-10 drafted fowards and another drafted in the second round. We had probably the strongest, depth wise, front court in the nation and he was amazing in that game. Now, all that said, I can understand saying he's overrated. Just because saying someone is overrated doesn't mean he sucks. And he does get a lot of media hype. But I think he'll be something special. I don't like the NBA (like basketball, just not the NBA), and was looking foward to seeing him play. Just one less reason to watch.
