JBricks
I've probably got too much time on my hands, but I took it upon myself to adjust the "Pitch Speed" slider so that the in-game pitching would replicate that of actual pitching. In other words, a 95mph game fastball would arrive to the catcher in the same time that it would in real life. During my tests, I've come to the conclusion that somewhere around +15 is the proper setting. That's a ballpark number though as I found its nearly impossible to pin down. Replays do not seem to playback in real speed and video capture programs can't keep up at a decent framerate.
Padres67
I put the pitch speed at 50-It is very realistic for me.
Kccitystar
I thought I was the only one who put it into hyperdrive (+50)
BigDom
its an estimated .46 seconds for the ball to get home plate on a 95 mph fastball.
JBricks
its an estimated .46 seconds for the ball to get home plate on a 95 mph fastball. So now, try to replicate that with the pitch slider. If you want to get technical, guns (I believe) measure at the first 10 feet or so of its travel. The ball slows down before it reaches the plate. I wonder if MVP takes that into account? Ahh this is gonna be harder than I thought .
kgbaseball
You're thinking too hard. Just throw a 95 mph fastball with a guy in the game, and then adjust the slider to .46 seconds.
JBricks
Where is this magical .XX second slider? As far as I know, it goes from -50 to +50.
Homer
there isn't one. you need to set the slider to where you think it should be. start a game, and throw a 95 mph fastball with someone. and while you're doing it, have a stop watch to time it. when you get one that reaches the plate in .46 seconds, your slider is as accurate as you wanted it to be. Have you ever tried to time it? Its not as easy as it looks. Besides, I realize the process in configuring this (as explained above). I was just curious if anyone else had done similar testing, to compare results.
Homer
no, it's not easy, but no one's saying it is. kg was only saying that you didn't need to make it any harder than it should be. this is a tedious task, but you might as well keep it as simple as possible. it's going to take several shots at it, and on top of all that you're gonna have to be good at using the stop watch too. superdee
interesting... I was attempting to do the same with baserunner speed... Trying to time Ichiro down to 1B and see how close I can get him to his best time there using sliders (3.??)... of course then comes in the whole ratings ordeal... SESbb30
that seems to look right.
