Integrating pitch counts and fatigue

I spoke to Yankee4Life regarding this topic and he thought it was a good idea, so I'll post it here.

I really would like to see 2008 integrate pitch counts and fatigue.

Now I know that there are overlays with pitch counts out there. It's cool, but it has no impact on the game.

I play with the Mets and every time I play with them, I frequently see that I'm taking guys out in the 6th inning who have like 45-50% fatigue, but with a pitch count of 60. Completely unrealistic.

I would like to see pitch counts and fatigue be related. For instance, the more pitches a pitcher throws, the more tired he becomes. If a guy has thrown 100 pitches through 5 innings, then he'll probably have to be taken out. But if a guy has thrown 75 pitches through 7, then he should be able to complete the game and have a CG.

Same thing for a reliever. If a reliever is having a tough inning and throws 30 pitches, then he should be completely exhausted and have to be taken out.

I'm not sure if it's possible, but having a young arm in the farm system and calling him up would be interesting. If you make him throw too many pitches, then you blow his arm out and he goes on the DL. You have to gradually increase his pitch count and ease him in. Same thing with an injured starter coming back from serious injury (like Pedro Martinez came back a few weeks ago with a max pitch count of 75).

Pitch counts play such a huge role in baseball today. I would like to see that translated to MVP 08. I'm tired of my starters fatiguing in the 4th and 5th innings despite having a low pitch count. It needs to be worked out that pitch counts are higher. The batters take pitches, at bats where we have a guy fouling off the pitch 4, 5, 6 times, stuff like that.

It would revolutionize the pitching aspect of the game and make it much more intriguing and fun.
