Hudda
I'm trying to get an understanding of the hold statistic. Is it when a relief pitcher enters the game in a save situation, records an out and leaves the game in the same situation as he entered or can he surrender a run and still leave the game in a save situation and still record a hold? BigRog
A Hold is credited any time a relief pitcher enters a game in a Save Situation, records at least one out, and leaves the game never having relinquished the lead. so he can allow any number of runs as long as he doesn't blow the lead

BigDom
A hold (abbreviated H) is awarded to a relief pitcher who: 1. enters the game in a save situation; that is, one of the following three conditions applies: * his team has a lead of no more than three runs (and he pitches at least one inning) * the potential tying run is either on base, at bat, or on deck * he pitches for at least three innings after entering the game 2. records at least one out; 3. and leaves the game without his team having relinquished the lead at any point. Note that since the hold is not an official MLB statistic, the definition above can vary. One noticeable difference is that while STATS Inc. requires the pitcher to record at least one out for a hold, SportsTicker does not have this requirement. This can result in discrepancies in hold totals between different sources.
Hudda
I just wanted to add the statistic (manually) to my boxscores for my dynasty. Thought i'd ask for an clarification on it. Thanks for the replies.
