Maybe we should rethink this Bonds situation..

After the Gators game, I'll probably post the results from the Rockies series and, since there's an off-day scheduled, the current standings. You're not gonna want to see that... :D

Philliesphan, here's the Cubs stats (those that qualify)...

cubsix6.jpg

Yeah JR, the A's probably should have signed Bonds. :D

...and look at DeRosa. Wow :ninja:

Well done against the Rockies, good luck with the Astros, mind you I think you should sweep them :wtg:

Thanks :D

I have a feeling that the division is going to be hard fought this season. Even with Colorado losing three of those four games, they are still only 4.5 back. The Padres look bad in the standings, but they also haven't had Peavy or Young. Both should return within the next month.

I've got the next nine games already simmed and ready to recap, all coming soon. There are two epic games, one of which fell just five innings short of the longest MLB game by innings in history. The other was a 1-0 game that featured a combined seven total hits.

Both teams had the same starters for both games. :D

Lincecum K's 12 in Giants Loss

Vizquel extends hit streak to seven games

may13ph2.jpg

Tim Lincecum punched out 12 Astros in seven innings of work, but the Giants offense couldn't break

out against Brandon Backe in a 4-2 loss at AT&T Park.

The Astros managed two runs in the third inning after an error from Dan Ortmeier extended the frame.

Backe struck out eight Giants over eight innings, and held them to just one hit in his final four.

Omar Vizquel went one-for-three with an RBI to extend his hit streak to seven games. He's now nine-

for-15 over his last five games.

Ledezma Two-Hits San Francisco

Lefty strikes out nine in stellar performance

may14cp9.jpg

Barry Zito allowed just one run on a solo home run from Jody Gerut over eight strong innings of work,

surrendering just four hits while punching out eight and walking none.

But a different left-hander earned the victory tonight as Wilfredo Ledezma held the Giants to just two

hits in Houston's 1-0 victory.

Ledezma saw his bid for a perfect game end with one out in the fifth inning after a walk to Bengie

Molina. His counterpart, Zito, then broke up the no-hit bid when he singled with one out in the sixth.

Zito's lone blemish came in the eighth inning. Vinnie Chulk and Steve Kline combined to pitch a score-

less ninth.

Omar Vizquel went 0-for-two to end his hit streak.

may15hq1.jpg

Kevin Correia was effective for his second straight outing, allowing three runs, two earned, on eight

hits in six and one-thirds innings as the Giants prevented an Astros sweep with a 5-3 win.

A three-run second gave San Francisco an early lead, with a two-run double from Kevin Frandsen cap-

ping off the frame. An RBI single from Carlos Lee tied the game in the top of the fifth, but a solo home

run by Bengie Molina in the bottom of the inning put the Giants back on top.

Ray Durham struck out in his first appearance at AT&T Park since being traded this offseason. Another

former Giant, Lance Niekro, was signed by Houston as a free agent and was hit by Brian Wilson to

lead off the ninth.

Unfortunately, that makes perfect sense :D

He's pitched well and hopefully the offense can support him more as the season progresses. Thanks for checking in :stickman:

Real-life wise, I think next season is going to get very ugly for Cain and Lincecum. Poor kids.

Phew!

Great job on keeping a winning record with a lot of young guys. Lincecum pitched a phenomenal game - 12 SO in 7 Innings. Too bad he got the loss though.

Yeah, the team is better than I thought they would be. Hands down the biggest surprise is Frandsen and his 11 home runs - yet he's only hitting .226.

Schierholtz could be pulled out of the starting lineup soon in favor of Rajai Davis, who has performed well in platoon situations. Schierholtz, on the other hand, is hitting under .200 with not much power. Could be a demotion if someone in the minors forces my hand.

But pitching has been better than I could have hoped...especially Pat Misch. That guy has pitched his butt off.

14-26??? WTF is going on out there in the Bay? I say we dig Martin back up and prop him up in the dugout, get some kind of motivation for these boys. Bring Jackson out of retirement, and suit him up! Reinstate Canseco!

Ok, the Martin comment was uncalled for, we could opt for a poster instead. :) I totally adored the guy.

Anyway, go A's!!! :)

just curious, any trades the giants management are thinking about, any signings, or any hot minor leaguers that could get a look soon? Thanks!

Trade-wise, it's going to be difficult with our two biggest chips, Lowry and Sanchez, already having been dealt. And Cain and Lincecum are cemented in our future plans.

If anything happens, it will probably be around the deadline. If we're out of the hunt, you might see Randy Winn, Steve Kline, Rich Aurilia and some other veterans moved to free up their contracts. If we're in the hunt, maybe some bullpen help. But a superstar trade isn't likely with the lack of trade bait we have right now.

There are a couple of minor leaguers that could be forcing our hand, especially with some of the offensive struggles we've had. Eddy Martinez-Esteve is hitting over .300 at Fresno and is showing some of the potential many thought he would years ago. There are also a couple of pitchers who could see a call-up to help the bullpen soon.

We entered this season in rebuild-mode, and look to stay on that path despite our success, or lack thereof. With Durham, Roberts and Klesko already off the books via trade, and the potential for future contract movement, we are in great position to make a run at potential bats in free agency this offseason. Obviously, with tampering, we can't specify who though.

Thanks for checking in :D
