lol

Apparently he's the next Dave Winfield - I'm fairly certain the Blue Jays just took the guy in the draft, and he's already starting at the MLB level. Hell, he had a game-winning hit against us in the Toronto series.

Maybe I should have traded for him...oh well :D

effort over the Cincinnati Reds.

scoring Ken Griffey, Jr., who led off the inning with a triple.

Lincecum also went one-for-two from the plate, doubling and scoring in the fifth inning and plating

Offense a Dud on Independence Day

Cardinals post two four-run innings

july4sd1.jpg

The St. Louis Cardinals put on an explosive show this July 4, blasting four home runs in an 8-0 win over

the San Francisco Giants.

Kevin Correia couldn't match the success of his predecessors, ending the Giants run of three-straight

complete game efforts as he allowed seven runs on nine hits in just four and two-thirds innings.

St. Louis blasted three home runs in the fourth inning, including back-to-back shots from Brendan Ryan

and David Eckstein, to take a 4-0 lead. They then loaded the bases against Correia in the fifth before

the Giants called on Jesse Foppert for relief.

The first batter, Laynce Nix, blasted a 2-2 pitch to center to blow the game open 8-0.

Chris Carpenter was stellar, allowing just five hits over seven and two-thirds shutout innings on his

way to win number 10.

A day after Chris Carpenter joined the 10-win club, Pat Misch joined him with a fantastic seven and

The Giants offense supported Misch with a six-run outing, three coming from the bat of Kevin Frandsen,

who went two-for-four in the contest while blasting his 22nd home run of the season. It was Frandsen's

first home run since June 16 against Milwaukee, a span of 15 games. Entering today's contest, Frand-

sen had gone eight-for-54 (.148) in that span. He got three of those eight hits in five at bats last night.

Cain Leaves Game Early, Giants Win 5-3

San Francisco finishes first half with series win

july6ew6.jpg

It was a bitter-sweet day at AT&T Park this afternoon as the San Francisco Giants finished the first half

with a series victory over the St. Louis Cardinals in a 5-3 win. They have won five of their last six games.

However, bad news came with one out in the fourth inning when Matt Cain left the game with a blister

on his index finger. Bruce Bochy commented after the game:

"It didn't look serious, but only time will tell with something like that. Obviously it's a good break that

the All-Star break is here, so that gives us time to monitor it and work the rotation so we can give him

a start off. As of right now, if there's no trouble in a week, we'll plan on bringing him back after that

skipped start. But obviously, with a guy that young with that promising a future, it doesn't hurt to be

a little extra careful."

Cain had punched out six in three and one-thirds innings prior to leaving.

The Giants offense took a 5-1 lead after four innings, using a collection of singles to accomplish the

task. Brad Hennessey threw three and one-thirds innings, surrendering two runs on six hits before

handing it to four different relievers. The bullpen held on, surrendering one more run before Brian Wil-

son struck out the side in the ninth to pick up his 21st save.

Scoring

Is Tiny Tim leading the NL in k's? every time I look he has at least 10

He is having a great season, no doubt (if you don't look at the screwed up W-L record). But since he missed a few starts earlier in the year with various injuries, his strikeout total isn't as high as it would be.

Zito is actually in the top five though - and Cain is around the top 10 mark I believe.

Wilson Lone Giants Representative in New York

SAN FRANCISCO - The San Francisco Giants are happy to announce that pitcher Brian Wilson has been

chosen as a National League All-Star for the 2008 season.

Wilson, 26, struggled earlier in the season, his first as the official closer of the Giants; but the right-

hander has improved drastically and now sits at the top of the league in saves. The hard-throwing

Wilson was never worried:

"There were a couple of bad spells," said Wilson in today's press conference. "But, as a closer, I can't

worry about them. As soon as the last pitch is thrown, it's time to focus on tomorrow. If you think about

yesterday, you've already lost."

The fact that Wilson was chosen isn't shocking, but the fact that he's the only Giant is. Rookie Pat Misch

has been phenomonal for San Francisco, posting a 10-4 record with an ERA of 3.46. Kevin Frandsen has

struggled with his average, hitting just .243; but has blasted 22 home runs while driving in 60.

The All-Star game is tomorrow at Yankee Stadium, with first pitch scheduled for 7:35 ET. Pre-game

ceremonies will take place throughout the day.

Frandsen to Enter HR Derby

SAN FRANCISCO - The San Francisco Giants are happy to announce that Kevin Frandsen has accepted

an invitation to participate in the 2008 Home Run Derby tonight at Yankee Stadium.

Frandsen has shown tremendous power so far this season, blasting 22 home runs, good for a tie for

fifth place in the National League.

"I don't know exactly how well I fit in with these guys," said Frandsen after getting the call last night.

"Guys like Ryan (Howard) and Matt (Holliday) actually have power. Me...not so much. But it's truly an

honor and I hope I don't embarass myself!"

The Derby will begin at 6:30 ET. Following are the other seven announced participants with their sea-

son home run totals in parenthesis:

Hanley Ramirez, FLA (29); Matt Holliday, COL (23); Ryan Howard, PHI (22); Carlos Pena, TB (26); Adrian

Beltre, SEA (24); Justin Morneau, MIN (22); David Ortiz, BOS (21).

WOW! how did MISCH get snubbed! i say there should be a fan vote ;) lol 10 wins and no all-star game, what a tragedy

Heh...yeah, it's pretty much BS. But hey, he can rest up for the second half - gonna have to play some good baseball to have a chance at the postseason...

Glad you're still enjoying it - thanks for the support :D
