Ryan Howard of the Philadelphia Phillies celebrates his home run derby victory. Naturally, facing off against

Man, how did K-Rod wind up on the Yankees? Hope that never happens in real life...

Yay Kevin! Good luck SF!

OOPS! I'll get that fixed right away :wall:

Franny didn't embarass himself - would have been cool to see him advance though! Thanks for checking in and pointing out that mistake :D

Did you use MVP to play the HR Derby?

For the HR Derby, I faced off two contestants at a time in the home run showdown, with the target distance 7,500 feet. Instead of noting who got to that distance first, I took the final home run totals of each player.

All players were controlled by the computer - I just sat back and took pictures. The blast off between Morneau and Ramirez was done at 3,000 feet.

I see, I thought it looked like MVP but I wasn't sure.

--Nice job on this dynasty, I love following it!

Yeah, with all the great mods around, sometimes the game looks completely different then we're used to. I think that picture of Yankee Stadium really shows what a great job the guys that put it together did.

Glad you're enjoying it and thanks for the support! :D

So that pic wasn't photoshopped?

So that pic wasn't photoshopped?

Only resized to 640x480. Other than that, it's straight out of the game.

Unless I add a lens flare to the ball to make it show up better, none of the pictures you see here are touched up. Crop and resize are all I do other than that.

Wow, I definately thought you did some work with photoshop on that one? Are you using hyman's hi-res Yankee Stadium?

Yeah, I think that's the one that is included in MVP 07. I haven't installed any other than rolie's Bum Stadium, so it's whatever one is the default.

Bums Take 17-Inning Marathon 2-1

Offense collects just five hits over entire contest

gamefinalur2.jpg

weaverdu4.jpglincecumts3.jpg

Both starters, Jeff Weaver (left) and Tim Lincecum (right) threw shutout baseball tonight, leaving the game

in the hands of their respective bullpens.

lincecumfouljn1.jpg

Before Lincecum left the game in the bottom of the eighth, he gave the idiot Bums crowd a scare when he

just missed a home run with one out in the top of the frame. He eventually struck out.

frannycp4.jpg

Kevin Frandsen finally broke through the scoreless tie in the tenth with a solo home run off Jonathan Brox-

ton who, despite an excess amount of it, couldn't get enough weight behind an inside fastball.

abreuso7.jpg

In his first save opportunity since his All-Star selection, Brian Wilson gave up a game-tying home run to

Tony Abreu in the bottom of the tenth.

foppertxk7.jpg

Jesse Foppert was fantastic in relief for San Francisco, throwing four scoreless frames before the start of

the 17th inning.

franwg3.jpgoutyh2.jpg

Frandsen gave it his best effort on a ground ball from Abreu in the bottom of the 17th, but according to first

base umpire Tim McClelland, tie goes to the runner. The infield single, the Bums second of the inning, load-

ed the bases.

freemanzp4.jpg

Foppert couldn't overcome the bad breaks the 17th inning presented, surrendering a bases loaded single to

Choo Freeman to end the contest.

Scoring

T10: Frandsen solo HR

B10: Abreu solo HR

B17: Freeman single scores Ethier

W – Houlton (2-2) L – Foppert (3-2)

Player of the Game:

Kevin Frandsen 1-6, HR, RBI

Bums Win Another 2-1 Contest

Giants muster just four hits in a lack of support for Zito

gamefinalyu0.jpg

zitovl6.jpg

Barry Zito suffered yet another hard-luck loss tonight, allowing just two runs on eight hits in seven innings

of work. He fell to 4-7 while his ERA stands at 3.57.

abreupv1.jpg

Tony Abreu lines a single just out of the reach of Zito in the second inning, driving in Matt Kemp for the first

of two Dodgers runs in the frame. They would not score again - nor need to.

furcaloq4.jpg

Rafael Furcal left the game with an apparent arm injury after breaking up a double play in the third inning.

lewismm5.jpg

Fred Lewis stole his 43rd base of the season in the sixth inning. He later scored the Giants only run on a

single by Omar Vizquel.

Scoring

B2: Abreu single scores Kemp; Freeman sacrifice fly scores Martin

T6: Vizquel single scores Lewis

W – Penny (10-4) L – Zito (4-7) S - Broxton (21)

Player of the Game:

Fred Lewis 2-4, R, SB

James to Undergo Knee Surgery, Out for Season

ATLANTA - The Atlanta Braves have announced that pitcher Chuck James will undergo knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus, forcing him to miss the remainder of the season.

James, 26, appeared in 14 games for the Braves this season, starting eight of those contests. He went 3-2 with a 2.47 ERA in 65 and two-thirds innings. The left-hander has posted a WHIP of just 0.93 while striking out 51 and walking just 14 on the season.

James started 32 games for Atlanta last season, posting a 14-9 record with an ERA of 3.62 over 211 and one-thirds innings.

You gonna let them push you around like that, sf?? :)

I'd say one of our pitchers is going to bean the first Dodger they face in the next game, but it's probably more likely that he will turn around and hit one of his fielders in the face if someone doesn't start hitting.

Offense Still on Break as Bums Finish Sweep

Every batter but Lewis strikes out at least once

gamefinalmf8.jpg

latrinehb8.jpg

It was a beautiful day in Southern California - unless you're unlucky enough to be a Giants pitcher.

larocheco2.jpg

Andy LaRoche drove in the first of two Dodgers runs today with an RBI single in the third inning.

winnmn3.jpg

Randy Winn, like the rest of his teammates, continue to come up short in offensive situations.

lewisjl8.jpg

The Giants defense, like their pitching, has been steallar this season. Here, Fred Lewis robs LaRoche of a

home run in the sixth inning.

correiabc4.jpg

Kevin Corriea allowed just two runs in six innings today, but suffered the loss as the Giants offense was

shut out for the 11th time this season.

Scoring

B3: LaRoche single scores Martin

B6: Abreu solo HR

W – Lowe (8-3) L – Correia (7-8) S - Broxton (22)

Player of the Game:

Omar Vizquel 2-4
