A common mvpedit issue on Vista- fix it like this:

just a heads up for any other Vista users who are having a problem with mvpedit for exporting data back to mvp folder or editing any other folder in general:

my most common issue was hist.dat being a read only file... etc.

I then went to this file but it didn't have a read-only tick in the properties box so I was puzzled... but in Vista they have the useless security setting things so if you want to export your data from mvpedit to mvp folder, you have to find the file which has the error, in this case being hist.dat, and right click, securities and then select your windows user log on account. you have to do this even if you have one account.

then after you selected your account, go to Edit and then click on all-rights or something similar (i dont have english windows) and then you can freely edit any files which you had problems with before.

i hope you understand what this means and it might help some people using vista
