ellipsis
I'm using MLB 07 with the pitch speed slider on 0 and Im using the Ultimate Rosters. I'm using the Red Sox, i set Beckett's fastball to 96 in his pitch page. Schilling's is set to 90. But in game Beckett's fastball tops out at 96 while Schilling's tops out at 89. I change Beckett's fastball to 97 then use him to pitch and his fastball then tops out at 99. I may be nitpicking since its only 1 or 2 mph. But i know what some pitchers in real life, what their fastball tops out and i want to set the pitch speeds in a pitcher's profile to match that. JP_Frost
Generally when setting a pitch speed for a player (and this goes for Fastballs), keep in mind that it can differ a couple of MPH. It all depends on how you pitch, if you let the pitch bar fill all the way up. If you do then the pitcher will either throw the speed his fastball is set to, or 1 or 2 MPH faster. If you don't fill up the entire ball (to the red area), but say halfway through, he'll throw slower. Also the on and off days will affect this. for off speed stuff there's even more differential between a maxed out pitch and lower effort pitch. Just play with it and see what works.
