MrDudleyDoWright
I love playing MVP, and i used to be damn good at it too. Now all i want to know is what can i do to get my timing back in hitting in MVP, and how can i be a better pitcher in this game? I need help because i want to get revenge on somebody (*cough*MetsReyes777*end cough*)
ixcuincle
More practice against the computer might help. Although it doesn't help for me , I keep getting my butt kicked against some guy in MVP online and it seems like the CPU game is completely different from the online game. Although it doesn't help for me , I keep getting my butt kicked against some guy in MVP online and it seems like the CPU game is completely different from the online game. But the thing is, even against the CPU, without sliders, i still get beaten, and the computer all of a sudden likes to ball me. Thats why im asking this because this is getting out of hand

evil1182
The best way to get better at the game is to understand the game of baseball, I don't know your knowledge of the game but that's the best way IMO, like knowing where to pitch the batters, knowing how to play small ball or going the other way, stuff like that. HCaray
a question.... do you work with batter's eye on, or off? if on... this works for me... - before your first at bat, check what the pitcher throws, and the ratings for each pitch. i find it most difficult when he has a 4 seam fast ball, 2 seam fastball, and a Cutter. This is because they're all white when he delivers it. You just have to train you eye to pick up the movement of the ball. Hey, just like in real life. As difficult as it is to pick up these pitches and their location, it's also the easiest to square them up and drive them. strategy time... 1. always take the first pitch. if that pitch is a ball, you're off to a good start. most of the time, if the first pitch is a ball, take the second pitch, and so on. if you don't draw a four pitch walk....see #2... 2. now look for no color on the ball (remember the hitter's eye, 4 seamer, 2 seamer, and Cutter) 3. never look at you batter. if you have a guy who has someone's stance, they generally are moving around. you're not the player, you're the videogame version of him, so this will distract you. look at the pitchers glove, and then his throwing arm, up to his hand, and finally the ball. 4. don't decide to hit the ball in any direction before it's thrown. follow the ball's path, and remember, if you looking for for something with a slight amount of movement, you're reaction time will be quicker. - to sum up... - if you see a missed pitch idicator, throw everything I said out the window and swing. if you don't hit it out, at least you won't kill yourself for missing the opportunity. - finally... - have fun out there, it's only a game after all. (also, i'm assuming you're woking with a controller, not a keyboard. if a keyboard, disreguard all this information.)

Well, i work with batter's eye off, thanks for the info. kazmatsui10, i pre load, i think that may be my problem. I try to go with the pitch, if i do, i swing late. And for evil1182, yes, i try to play small ball, i do try to use my knowledge of the game (which is a lot, not bragging) but i still dont have the success i used to. i wish there was video-game steroids
philliesphan18
Take some pitches - make the pitcher work. That's the best advice I know, other than play more.
SESbb30
just hit like you would if you were hitting. pitch like it too.
kazmatsui10
no....pre-loading is actually an easier method in hitting..so your problem doesn't lie there... work the count more and decrease the cpu pitcher stamina...so you can tap into their bullpen more oftenly
forEvErYankEE87
i think if ur disatisfied with your hitting then you should turn on hitters eye, to perfect a better approach at swinging at all kinds of pitches. HCaray's info is very good advice, except for the issue with pre-loading and late-loading in terms of hitting for power ffrom my experience i discovered that late-loading works really well in the "home run showdown" but in actual games even maybe mini games late-loading just does not get it done for power. Even players i jacked up with 99 power R/L, the usual result is maximum warning track distance. When i decided to switch to pre-loading is when i began to hit no-doubters, the ball is just hit alot harder pre-loading from my experience. MrDudleyDoWright
Well, i played some games against some people. And i pre-load and late-load. I'm using both method, and, it's been working out really well. Thanks for the advice guys
ixcuincle
But I haven't , I have really slid into a funk in MVP. A few days ago it was 8-8 going into extra innings , Yankees - Angels. The game would extend on for what would seem forever until the Angels finally won in the bottom of the 22nd. Something is wrong with the sliders or my style of play when I can only get 2 hits over 13 extra innings. It seems like every game I play now involves me struggling to hit the junk and curves the CPU throws , while the CPU hits the same curveballs and sliders I throw with ease. The difference is , the CPU throws a good pitch to hit , and I either ground out or fly out despite shifting my analog stick up and to the left when swinging. And , no surprise , I throw a similar curveball and WHACK Home run CPU. I've tried jacking up the sliders , power and contact 50 for both cpu and human , and no change. And all this is on Pro.
