brutushayesosu
Well as the topic states, Im thinking about going back to school to earn another degree. I just graduated with a degree in Soc. and a minor in Communications. About 3/4 the way through earning that degree I decided that I should've went for a turf science degree. I was just wondering if anyone here has 2 degrees or in the process of doing that? How is it going for you? Also, I will have to dive deeper into debt, but I think I should go ahead and go back now than later when I have a wife and kids and what not. sfgiantsflgators
If you're unhitched right now - GO BACK! It'll be a lot harder the longer you wait. Just my two cents - but from my experience, the more you put it off, the easier it will be to keep putting it off. Either way, good luck with whatever path you choose. wrigleyville33
hey, im not really close to college ( a freshman in fact) but just remember: if you get a job that you enjoy and if you believe that degree will be a well paying one, then you will make up that college debt... my sister's boyfriend has a degree in an area somewhere within writing and a degree with computer science. he is also i debt but he believes he will pull through it and thinks it will be worth it. plus the two degrees shows on that resome ;)
brutushayesosu
Im going to talk to an admissions counselor tomarrow. The thing is I'll probably have to take a lot of the same classes (GEC's) again. But, if in the end Im doing something that I love then the debt won't be a huge problem. My sister quit her $55,000 yr job to become a radio dj for $27,000. I guess she kinda inspired me a little to just take a chance. Another thing is that the Turf Science program at OSU requires an internship senior year. With Huntington Park http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huntington_Pa...Columbus,_Ohio) opening in 2009 that would be a perfect place to take one if possible. Plus Ohio has about 10,000 golf courses so I could go that route too.
Homer
well i got a few under my wings too, and i gotta say, i always encourage higher education if you want to do it. speaking positively, if it is what pleases you, just do it. you can always make it work. financially speaking, what will you do with it? i know it may be a good feat to accomplish, but is the education you will get worth $150k, or whatever it is? and more importantly, are you going to be able to pay it back? but it sounds like you enjoy school, so i say just go for it. but i must ask, because it seems you have a bachelor's, why not go for something higher? graduate school? doctorate? maybe phd? brutushayesosu
I could go get a Masters in Social Work but it just isnt for me. Im more of an outdoor, hands on type of person. As for more debt. It'll probably be about 30-35k more which would put me at 70k I would owe the federal loan peeps. I think I could work out a reasonable repayment plan when its all completed. With a degree in Turf Science I could work grounds crew at sporting venues, golf courses, landscaping jobs, or dev/sales at seed and fertilizer plants. Though I doubt I'll go the latter. Of course starting out I won't be making much, but with any career it'll take some time and hard work to be promoted to higher positions.
