kgbaseball
1. It's the ultimate 1 on 1, pitcher vs. batter. 2. It's the only sport where most stats don't tell you exactly how good a player is. There's passer rating and rushing yards in football that tell you about a player. In basketball, it's how many points, rebounds, assists, and blocks that tell you how good a player is. In baseball, so many stats are based on how your teammates perform, and in baseball, defense is nearly impossible to measure. Anyways, I like how baseball has the widest array of stats. Those are just a couple of the things I love about this game. What do you love about baseball?
kazmatsui10
baseball is like........................FINE ART... you have to develop a taste for it people say it's so boring and tasteless, cuz they can't appreciate the little things that are happening in the game pitcher and batter are playing their own little chess game in their heads in baseball, one moment can change the whole game there are so much stats that even Umpires have stats nowadays
ChicagoCubs720
1. It's the ultimate 1 on 1, pitcher vs. batter. I play baseball and I wrestle. I probably am a bigger baseball fan, but I do admit that wrestling has to be the ultimate 1 on 1. It's just you and your opponent, on the mat for 6 minutes, duking it out with no teammates to back you up.

It's just you and your opponent, on the mat for 6 minutes, duking it out with no teammates to back you up. I wrestled for 8 years. My last coach loved to use the line "This isn't a team sport, gentlemen. If you need a teammate - go join the pus**es on the baseball team." lol. Of course... I played baseball too. Yankee4Life
I love baseball because ...It brings back good memories of when I was a kid. ...It means going to Cooperstown and seeing and learning as much as I can about the history of this game. ...It means that a 5 foot six inch tall southpaw kid had something in common with everyone who lived around him and as long as you had a glove or a bat, you were welcome in the game every day. That's how it was when I was growing up. ...It means listening to the radio on a warm and breezy summer night getting the out of town games in. Many nights I spent listening to the Indians and Cardinals, and even later on, I'd catch the Dodgers and Giants if I was lucky, and still awake. ...I can identify with baseball more than football or any other sport. When a quarterback throws the ball 50 yards downfield, I can appreciate that but I know I can never do that. When a basketball player would make a acrobatic dunk shot, I'd cheer, but I know I couldn't do that because I am not tall enough. But when a baseball player hits a home run to win a game, I can identify with that. Of course, not on the same level as a major leaguer, but I've done that. I've made the great catches and got the clutch hits. I can relate to their feelings. I played the game. ...most of all I love baseball because it holds my interest every single day of the year. HCaray
I love the mental aspect of baseball. Players compete not only on a high physical level, but are constantly trying to out smart eachother. I also appreciate the extreme difficulty of the game. Someone once said that "the hardest thing to do in sports is to hit a little round ball with a round stick." Finally, it reminds me of my childhood. I was introduced to the game when I spent summers with my great grandpartents. They had a passion for the Cubs, and this sport, and it got passed down to me. Besides the competition of it, I feel that baseball is a way to honor their memory.

SwinginSoriano
It's a game where talent does not equal success. Sometimes the best aren't talented, and the most talented never make it to the bigs. It's a game where the worst can beat the best. It's a game where the best can prove why they are the best. It's a game that can take four excruciating hours or last as short as two in nine innings. It's a game where the least talented players can be the best and the most talented players may never make it. It's a game where great individual performance always helps a team. It's a game where a player can get out over 7/10 times and still have his team win. It's a game that every ballpark is different, hitters park, pitcher's park, astroturf, deep grass, short grass, sun in left field, every park no matter how much of a "cookie cutter" it is/was brought its own unique spin to the game. It's the best game in the world, football is cool but still nothing is close. There isn't an hour in my day that I don't think about baseball, whether it's during the pennant race or thinking about the moves in the off-season that could help my team win. Extra innings also kick ***.
D-Unit
I've loved baseball since I could walk, even before then. My dad would roll me a baseball while I sat on the ground, and I would pick it up and make some sort of attempt to throw the ball back. Every sport has the underdogs, the undersized players with adversity and the feel good stories that remind you of the phrase "It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog." But in baseball, size never means anything. NEVER. I've been considered too small for baseball my whole life, I've still been able to play average if not better than the "big enough" kids. Baseball isn't all about talent. Talent is partly there, but it's so much mental intelligence, strategy, etc. It has a whole different dimension to it, the mental aspect is just as important as the physical part. I can't play at the level that my passion matches, but it makes me a better player. I can't hit the ball 450 feet and I can't throw 90 miles an hour, but I know what to do in any situation, I know where to align the fielders, hell I outcoach my own coaches. In baseball, as a hitter, if you fail 70 percent of the time in trying to get a base hit, you're a damn good player. The guys who bunt and steal and make diving plays are just as critical as the guy who hits homer after another every 3 or 4 games. It's so ridiculously unpredictable. Nothing is guranteed. The best teams on paper often crap out, and the average teams turn out having great stretches and find their way into the postseason, even hoisting the World Series trophy and shocking the world. Baseball is the best sport in the world, I have no passion that burns brighter than baseball. It's worth every bit of energy put into it.
philliesphan18
I love baseball because... 1. Nothing brings people together like a hot dog and a baseball game (Excluding Yankees and Red Sox fans! ) 2. There's nothing like stepping into a baseball stadium and hearing the roar of the crowd, smelling the freshly cut grass and the cheesesteaks (Philly), and seeing the multitudes surrounding the diamond. 3. Of the rush that comes with your team's success 4. I can fall asleep listening to the Phils win and the melodious sound of Harry Kalas' voice 5. It has such a rich history 6. It's captivating That's just off the top of my head, I could think of numerous other reasons.

AnthonyBurke
because... eating, breathing and sleeping the game isn't enough. I want to watch a pitcher work a count, and a hitter work one to... I want to see a guy hit home run #1, or pitch the perfect game, or a defense pick up a web gem for a beautiful 6-4-3... I want to see a manager get pissed, and big name player get traded, I want to see what happens to a rookie with high expectations placed on him, or a veteran with persistant recurring injuries have that one last great season... I love baseball because if it wasn't in the cards for my team today, it might be tomorrow, and come April of every year theres always new hope, new players, and 162 new games to keep me entertained. D-Unit
It's also a thing I love because it's that special father-son bond for me. Like, whenever I pitch, in between innings instead of listening to my stupid coaches, I go to the stands to talk to my dad and he'll tell me what I'm doing right and wrong. He was a pitcher, and his instincts are good, and it usually helps.

abc006
Because 90 feet between bases is the closest man has come to perfection. I know, I use that quote a lot, but it's entirely true. Baseball is just such a perfect game in every aspect, physically, mentally, and intellectually, the formatting, the rules, the judgment, unpredictability, the history, the difficulty, yet also the easiness, the complexity, yet also the basic simplicity, the measurements, how many things vary, the sound of the bat as it hits a rocketing ball, the dust cloud when someone slides, the leap when someone's trying to catch a ball, the sound of a ball slamming into someone's glove, the feel of the bat, the smell of the glove, the smell of the grass (alas), the rhythm and tempo of the game, the umpires (yeah, you heard me), the ballparks both big and small, yankee stadium, fenway, wrigley field, the championships, the dynasties, the curses, the defeats, the crowd, the manager, the coaches, the slumps, the hot streaks, fine, the "clutch" and "hustle", the fact that any person no matter size or strength can play, the fact that it does cost you if you're not at least somewhat intelligent, the switch hitters, the southpaws, the 6'10" flamethrower, the 5'6" slap hitter, the fastball, the curveball, the knuckleball, the changeup, the homerun, both out and inside the park, the double and triple, the groundball single, the line drive single, the bloop single, the long off-the-wall a la Fenway single, the grand slams, the bases loaded walks, the ground rule doubles, heck, even the balks, the swing and misses, the strike three lookings, the walks, the hit by pitches, the wild pitches, the clapping of the hands and high fives to the first base coach after a run-scoring single, the hot dogs, the lights, the absence of lights, the world-wide spread of it, the statistics, the non-absoluteness, the level of playing fields, the sacrifice (it may be a bad play, but it does have a rather poetic quality to it), the sportswriters (Joe Morgan, don't make me take this one off), the hall of fame (same deal, writers), the indefinite time span, how American it is, yet also how universal it is, the walk-off, the winning, the losing, the major leagues, the playoffs, the world series, the pennant, the minor leagues, college ball, the little leagues, the high school ball, japanese, korean, and taiwanese ball, dominican, puerto rican, venezuelan, cuban, and mexican ball, even canada, spring training, the offseason, opening day, the first pitch, the last pitch, the flashing of the light bulbs, 162 games, the silence and roars of the crowd, of course the players and their legacies or lack thereof, the excitement, the anticipation, the climaxes, the purity, how natural it comes, the perfection. Baseball is truly the greatest game of them all.

meteamo
Baseball is the best sport. I was going to write a book but had to stop myself since I didn't want to bore anyone here (including myself) and I wouldn't have known when to stop. But, here ya go: Why I like Baseball Watching a game outdoors and in the summer time. The smell of hotdogs during a game. Passing money from one stranger to another to another to the vendor and back again during a game. The memories you have watching, listening or going to the game with your mom, dad, granddad or grandmom when a little kid. The affordability of the tickets and being able to watch it with as many people in your family. The celebration of various holidays, events and ethnicities and rememberance of various tragedies. The singing of the National Anthem and Take Me Out To The Ballgame every game. The thrill of a no-hitter, walk of home run, 20 strike-out, triple play, game winning squeeze play, and a game saving catch. The hope of catching a foul ball with the glove you brought to the game. The rivalries. The lack of time constraint on the game. The concept of having no sudden death in Extra Innings and giving the team that's losing a chance to tie or win the game. The uniqueness of every ballpark. The opportunity for every kid to be a baseball player and every baseball player to be a kid. The diversity of all the baseball players. It's a simple game to learn and yet a complicated game to master. And most importantly ..... No TIES !
angryrat
i love that baseball is a constant chess match between two people (batter/pitcher) who are trying to out think each other on each and every pitch, it all seems so fine and intriquette, yet it's completed by hitting a ball as far as you can with a club. I also love how the best players in the game fail 70% of the time. It's a game of failure.
superciuc
I also love how the best players in the game fail 70% of the time. It's a game of failure. And from your mistakes you can become a great player.

abc006
copy pasta...lol j/k ⎺ how lond did it take you to type that?About 8 or 10 minutes, not a whole lot of time. Not sure what you mean by "copy paste" though. The affordability of the tickets and being able to watch it with as many people in your family.Let's hope this stays true, it's hard now days to get any seats below the top tiers less than 30 dollars, assuming you're not going to, say, a Devil Rays game, and with stadiums that are increasingly smaller but with twice as many luxury boxes... The uniqueness of every ballpark.Baseball is the only game where the playing field measurements aren't regulated. Yes, the baseball and mound is measured, but it's entirely up to the team if they want CF to be 390 or 440 feet, left center field a death valley, or a homer to right field a routine fly ball in any other park, a huge wall in left, a three foot wall in right, minuscule foul room behind home plate, or a huge area in 3rd and 1st base foul ground. No other sport (expect maybe cricket, but I'm not sure about that, and baseball originates from cricket anyway) does anything like that. No TIES !I'm looking at you, dodgeball!
