I can play mvp with vista but it is so fricken slow what do I do about this?

I have the same problem. I have no programs running and it's still slow... I just installed a new video card and a GB of RAM so I don't see why it's still lagging...

vista slows a computer down no question

bought the boy a new laptop that came with vista, I can some speed tests then formated and installed XP. I got a 40% speed increase from the tests in XP VS Vista

tunr off all the bells and whistles.

Turn off the 3d/seethrough windows, turn off the Start menu graphic, turn off the the sidebar, turn off all the fancy icon graphics and it will run about the same as XP

I understand it slows things down but a few days ago I was running XP with 640 MB of RAM and a 128 Vid Card. When I installed XP I also upped the RAM to 1 GB and put in a 256 Vid Card. It seems to me that those improvements should make up for the extra speed Vista takes away. I'm wondering if an uninstall/reinstall would help the problem because everytime I do try MVP and then close it, it gives me a "program ended unexpectadly" BS type error message. Even though I quit like I normally would.

directx10, added security, Compatibility for the future idk mostly for me not having to buy a copy of XP

4. DirectX 10

Why, oh why, did Microsoft hype DirectX 10 so heavily? Because it's the only truly compelling reason for a gamer to upgrade to Windows Vista? Turns out, it's not, really. The DirectX 10 games of 2007 tended to run more slowly than their own DirectX 9 versions, and it was extremely difficult to discern a visual difference.

Then the DirectX 10 showpiece finally came out: Crysis was one of the first titles built for DirectX 10, rather than kludge in support for the new API suite. Unfortunately, it acted just like every other DirectX 10 game: It runs better in DirectX 9 on Windows XP—and you can hack it to enable all of the visual enhancements that DirectX 10 supposedly offers.

DLLs that work eight times faster? Visuals that can't be done elsewhere? They just didn't materialize. No one knows if DirectX 10, or 10.1, or whatever comes in 2008, will truly prove to be as wondrous as Microsoft led us to believe. Somehow, I doubt it.

I think your right id rather be running XP but i cant afford it. The added security isnt bad but Comodo can do that for XP better and it makes vista better. So there arnt really to many perks besides the fact that i am running everything at a good speed and saved myself 100 dollars. It took alot of effort to get here though that it doenst take in XP.

when i'm playing the game, it starts fine but then usually into the 5th or 6th inning of my second game that day the game slows to a crawl. if i minimize the game for a few minutes and then play, it works fine for a few minutes before starting to lag again.

i disabled aero, turned off my wireless port, closed all the unnecessary processes and programs, etc, and it still doesn't change anything.. can anyone help?
