Guest Mindwarped
If more than 5,000 people showed up at games they would not have to move.

timay
i liked montreal as well, but they have to move into a more of a baseball city....with that move they would prob have over 5,000 fans and maybe the team would be much better...theres really no excuse for the mets...they just plain suck... JaFFiTh
I'm disappointed yeah, sad to see a canadian team move to USA. Especially when it's moving to one of the worst city in USA, bad idea! Farewell Expos

Kamasutra
Extremelly saddened and disappointed but not surprised, this was a long time coming. The expos have litterally been part of my earliest memories, I remember seeing them as a kid at Jarry Park.. The state of baseball in Montreal was hard to watch, especially when you were privileged to see them blossom throughout the years, it just couldn't go on like this. Unlike the majority of Montreal fans, who are rightfully bitter, I don't place the blame solely on baseball & Selig, it's definitely a shared blame between the Quebec goverment, the former owners (the after Bronfman debacle), the fans (at least 50% of the blame) and Major League Baseball. Was great while it lasted, so long beloved team, hope Washington treats you better than we did recently. The silver lining is at least after this move they can't blame their poor performance on dismal attendance or lack of funds...

It is simple if more fans had came out the team would still be in Canada
Kamasutra
How can you blame MLB at all, Montreal was luck to 6000 people showed up at a home game. It is simple if more fans had came out the team would still be in Canada um, back in 94 there was between 20,000 - 30,000 fans/ game, before the lockout... last I checked lockouts aren't the fans fault, nor is a player making $20,000,000/year nor is other teams plundering talent from one team over 10 years... nor is the fact that the MLB only stepped in last year to solve the ownership problems etc..etc.. If every year, the yankees took all of the cubs best players for 10 years straight, tell me cubbie fans wouldn't be a tad pissed... and about 10,000 other reasons, well documented... nough said. Anyway this thread isn't about who's to blame, but a farewell for true expos fans..
AlexTony
Kam, you have a very level headed way of looking at it. Yes, the business end of it ultimately is much of the final say. Change is a constant in every aspect. But, keep those memories always. I can also appreciate the Expos. Collecting cards back in the '70's. (Carl Morton, Rusty Staub, etc.) and watching on the tv the teams with Hawk, Raines and Rogers. That is the great thing about baseball - it lives on. Cooperstown, memorabilia, family outings, etc. Heck, look at we have done here - with all the classic uni's, team packs, and more. This is one reason why many of us play MVP with 'classic' teams and players. NOW, the Expos become part of the games memory that lives on. And baseball will create NEW memories both on the field and even for us game simulators to re-capture. Long live baseball and the memories it has given the Expos and their fans!
