and for god sakes

do you know HOW TO USE THE SEARCH BUTTON

I decided to learn how to mod unis 3 days ago, and I have almost finished a complete set for one team.

All through a couple of days reading and searching. It can be done.

you dont use any of those (loclook and mvpedit)

again SEARCH FUNCTION

I understand your wish to encourage the use of the search function - but you already said it once. The guy is asking for help - if you're not going to help, you don't need to repeat yourself about the search function.

what do i search for!?!

I would suggest looking for jersey tutorials or jersey templates.

or uniform tutorials or uniform templates.

You will need:

EAGraph

nFSHtool

Photo Editing Program - Photoshop, Gimp

MVP Studio - I used this to get the uniform portraits in the game, there might be another way

There are some excellent uniform templates in the download section by KC - Fantastic way to get started, made things extremely easier

You can find Cleats, Gloves, Batting Gloves, Helmets, all the accessories you will need in the download section. Like I said, I've only started to mod unis about 3 or 4 days ago, so I may be missing something.

My first attempt is a totally ficticious team that I may use for an upcoming dynasty. Not the best, but at least a start.

As long as you have some patience, are willing to read through some threads, you can do this.

Here's what you need and may need.

1) A graphic program that can open PSD files. Most templates that you can d/l are in this format. Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop are most commonly used. I think GIMP can be used. d/l a template from the Downloads section and try it. The files will be in layers.

2) Templates. Look in the Downloads section. Kennyess, rolie, fizzjob, umachines, Thome25, KCCitystar all have templates.

3) Tools. Downloads section. Kraw's Installer Thingy, MVPStudio, FSHLine, BigGUI, EAGraph are or may be needed. Not all tools work on all PCs. You may need to try different tools.

4) Accessories (optional) TheSpungo has addons such as catchers gear, shoes and gloves. Adds more realism to the game.

5) Download someone elses work. See what they do. Learn and understand the file structure.

6) Backup your original files. Uniforms.big and Models.big. Experiment on the temporary files not on the originals. Take baby steps. Do one uniform at a time until you understand what your doing.

7) Search the forums then ask questions after you try it yourself.

8) Backup your original files. Can't stress this enough.

And just so you know, XxYankeexX, You gotta take your time doing uniforms, Because things may look different in game, than they do when your photocropping them. For example, My 86 Mets uniforms, i'm having problems aliging the stripe wih the regular jersey from the sleeve. Takes a lot of time. But once you get it right, You'll be happy with your results.

Thanks, mrmet. I'm a long way off to perfecting anything, but my will power is like iron, so I'll get there eventually.

Not to hijack the thread though. Like I said, xxyankee, please ask if you have questions. The more I answer the more this process is embedded in my brain.

I have extensive plans for the future. :)

ok i also have a couple of questions about making unis such as how do you make pinstripes? and how do you outline jersey text? and last... what are you supposed to do on the back... do you just like put 00 and then put "last" where there should be the last name?

pinstripes are in KC's template

you dont need to add any numbers or words to the back of the jersey because their is another file that does that for you. i never dove into that stuff because i just used the text font/color etc that was in the jersey slot i used. ill ask kc about that though and get an answer for you eric

My recommendation is to download KC's jersey templates. Look at the layers, most of the things you are talking about already exist in his templates.

I couldn't have done it without them. Keep in mind, you can also add whatever you want to the templates when you open them in PS. I might add, never try to release them without asking permission, or at least acknowledging where they came from if you do release them.

Again, by answering questions, I'm trying to keep the integrity of this thread which also helps the original poster. But remember, I am nowhere near the expert as KC, Spungo, etc. I am still learning myself.

When you open the models.big file with EAGraph, you will see the .fsh files.

The files that begin with the letter "u" are the uniform files, the files that begin with the letter "f" are the font files.

Extract them to a folder. Drag the .fsh file over the .exe file in nFSHtool and it will unpack the .bmps.

You should be able to edit from there. BUT, when you open your folder that have the .bmps, you will notice a file called "index". Right click and open with notepad or wordpad. Get used to the text inside this file. Each .bmp has a certain size (0008.bmp 192x192, for example).

If you edit a jersey, resize it to 256x256, you must also change that text (0008 .bmp 256x256) in the index file, then save.

You would have to copy that picture, resize it in GIMP to fit on your jersey.

Make a new layer and just place it on the jersey where you want it. Just remember, if it's on one jersey set (home, away, alt), it's on them all.
