Because $4.50 breaks the bank. A monthly cell phone bill is more expensive than a year of Live.

PSN is trash compared to XBox Live. I've had PS3 for almost a year. I've had 360 for about 2 weeks. I've already played more on Live then I have on PSN. Its just so much better. 4.50 a month is worth it.

Send me a friend invite again. When Live was down I accepted your request but it didnt take. I was thinking about getting a PS3 later as a BluRay player and for the exclusives. I sold my dvd collection a year ago and will probably get back into buying movies again now that I ordered the Logitech z-5500's and I think BluRay is where the industry is heading.

HD-DVD is so much better. The big thing about Blue-Ray was that it was uncrackable and you couldn't pirate it. Thats what made it better then HD-DVD. Now that they have figured out how to HD-DVD, imo, will sell more

I've never watched a movie in HD-DVD, so I couldn't tell you. I'll have to rent a movie to check it out. BR was pretty good IMO though.

There should no difference really. The only difference I thought there was, was the disk compacity. But, Since more and more studios are switching to BluRay only its looking that it'll sway that way. A single format is what there should be or dual-players at a low cost. All I know is that the HD movies I have seen are absolutly amazing.

On January 4, 2008, Warner Brothers announced their exclusive support of Blu-ray. Sony Pictures, 20th Century Fox and Disney have earlier done the same. Of the big American distributors, only Paramount and Universal Pictures continue to release for HD DVD.

LOL, HD-DVD taunts with the Paramount buyout and then Blu-Ray goes for the kill with Warner.

It has more hardware support, more studio support, larger capacity, higher bandwidth and better for PC storage.

This eases the pain for when I missed out on the $99 HD DVD toshiba player on boxing day. ;)

i can tell you why bluray is better than hd dvd...

1. bluray transfers faster

2. bluray holds a lot more data

3. bluray looks better because it can transfer data

4. bluray has room for improvement... hd dvd is at top of its compacity

5. there are twice as many corporations behind bluray than hd dvd.

only advantage hd dvd has is that its cheaper.

because of bluray... it almost convinced me to buy a ps3

I was reading this at joystiq, Its basically saying that Microsoft isn't opposed to coming out with a blue ray player add on to the xbox, even though it is the rival sony's product (blue ray disks), if HD-DVD meets its end.

Following Warner's departure from the HD-DVD ship last week, Microsoft is once again fielding questions regarding the future of its Xbox 360 HD-DVD drive add-on. As is consistent with comments made previously by Scott Henson and Peter Moore, the HD-DVD supporter is still open to a Blu-ray drive should Toshiba's high-definition film format meet its demise. Speaking to Reuters, Xbox's group marketing manager Albert Penello has called it "something we'll have to consider" if "consumer choice" demands it.

Microsoft's initial decision to keep HD-DVD separate from the Xbox 360 hardware has always been trotted out under the "consumer choice" banner, with cost reduction cited as an immediate benefit. Of course, it also makes bailing out a lot easier should white flags start to go up. It may seem strange to envision Microsoft supporting a format so entwined with a competing console, but the company's not likely to shed a tear for discs when there's money to be made in the Xbox Live Video Marketplace.

I found this at crunchgear.com

It seems Microsoft wants the 360 to stay around for a while.

If Microsoft has its way, you’ll still be happily playing your Xbox 360 into the next decade.

Mindy Mount, CFO of Microsoft’s entertainment division, wants to buck the traditional five-year shelf life trend when it comes to her company’s current console, hoping that it’ll perform similarly to the PS2 which has remained popular for the last seven years.

According to Reuters, “Mount said features such as high-definition graphics make new machines attractive when compared against older hardware, but hinted that she sees less need to rush out an all-new console.â€
