I followed Raptorquiz's instructions to install (minus the 1X uni fix cause I didnt need to) and the game runs smoothly. I included both EA patches #3 and #5 but used neither of them. Not sure if they're unnecessary with the mod install but I have no stuttering issues and there was no mention in Raptorquiz's install guide. Dealing with public upload sites is a pain and I thought since I don't do any modding myself but have been using updates from MVPmods since 04 that the least I could do is provide a single source to get everything. Enjoy!
Yankee4Life
Well, that's very nice of you. Thank you.
redsox
Thats really nice work. Definitely be much easier on users wanting to update their game. Also, I am guessing you have already asked for permission from the modders who created these to see if you can host them on an external link. Also, I am guessing you have already asked for permission from the modders who created these to see if you can host them on an external link. I did not. I thought I would host it myself, make a post here and then if anyone complains I'll take down whatever it is they're responsible for. I don't see how this could be bad for them though seeing as they don't have to worry about bandwidth costs and it also allows this site to not have to field tons of questions and threads asking where to get what. I'm also not claiming any responsibilty for the work of any of these mods. Just seemed to make sense to put everything in one place.
Homer
it's not a bad idea at all, but it is just common courtesy to ask permission before posting someone else's work regardless of the intentions.
Hory
I wouldn't be hosting MVPedit since it expressly says on the mvpedit site "Please do not redistribute these files anywhere. They are here for a reason." And I would suggest taking down MVP 07 thanks.
tywiggins
1. You should ask permission first. 2. It really doesn't make sense to put everything into a single archive. They should stay as individual downloads. (To make it easy to update / stay current) 3. You have 4.3 Plus.rar, but you don't have the models.big updates from EAmods.com. (Quite a few players will have the wrong face in the game) 4. I recommend taking down the file now. And then only make available files for which you have permission. ALITDOM
to be honest, i also host files for quake 3 and quake 4. pretty much every map and mod that's played today competitively. im in good relations with most of the people that are still around for q3 that made these modifications and have been for the past 6 or 7 years and not once have i heard a peep about hosting their files being a bad thing. in fact, it's encouraged and i think they have the same rights as anyone here that's worked on these mods to the intellectual property once it's distributed as far as distribution is concerned as i do so long as im not taking credit for their work. i'm not selling it or passing anything off as my own and legally or ethically or whatever i think im well within my rights to host these files. that being said, i will take the link down and will ask individually each and every modder/contributer for permission though i dont really have to. of course, the admins of this site can disallow me to post the link and even to discuss this any furthur as they are pretty much the only ones with any power in this situation and how it's presented on these forums. RaptorQuiz
I was gonna say, the second I saw this - This isn't gonna fly. You gotta get permission from the authors of these things to redistribute their work.
hiheat32
it probably should be taken down although i have no problem with it. maybe an admin could actually upload something like this to the site. maybe you could have the mlb07 download and then all of the important addons in another download. just my 2 cents...
