I drive with an automatic transmission as I find it easier and much smoother over long distances or when driving at a constant high speed. But back home I drive a stick shift (or attempt to drive one at least). If I had a preference, I would probably go with automatic transmission, but have nothing against manual transmission.

I drive a manual, mostly because they are usually cheaper than a car with an automatic transmission. They also sometimes get better gas mileage and you can slow your car by down-shifting rather than constantly using the brakes.

But, if you do end up with an automatic, I suggest you at least practice on a manual, because you never know when a bad situation will come up, and the only car there might be is a manual.

Automatic. I don't grind my own coffee, generate my own electricity, pump my own water, I own a TV and video game system with a remote, etc. Why the hell would I shift my Xterra when it can do it on its own?

I'm turing 16 in a month and will be driving soon. I'll be driving automatic. When you live in the city, your an idiot if you drive manual. You can't go 10 feet without starting and stopping.

Actually, I'm still going to be taking the ferry, bus, and subway because it's quicker.
