Farewell Montreal Expos

I just want to say that it is sad to see a team that has a great history of players and managers leaving Montreal, and Canada.

True, that financially the time has come to move the Expos, but I don't think they would be in this situation today if it wasn't for the '94 strike.

They we're on their way to winning the world series that year, and basically got ripped off. Then they lost Pedro, Walker, Grissom etc. etc.

Fans in Quebec got shafted in hockey, too, when the Nordiques got moved to Colorado. Colorado won the Stanley Cup that same year. If you're a sports fan in Quebec, you'd feel pretty betrayed.

Anyway, the people of Montreal have gotten to see some truly world class players over the years, and they should be happy for that. Washington is a good replacement, if there was one.

Goodbye Expos. You will be missed.

Yeah, damn Americans for stealing our teams, especially for hockey, canada's sport, and why would ice belong in the south like florida sheesh.

It always bugs me when American steals Canadian teams, and I think it's a bad idea to move to DC since it's a bad area, plus there's already Balitmore not too far from there.

And yeah, I'm not meaning to offend u americans, it just bugs me, i wish the teams could at least stay in Canada since there's already way too many teams in the USA.

blame Canada. What possessed them to put a team in Montreal in the first place? That was a bad idea.

Because before Montreal got a major league franchise in 1969, they had a minor league team. And they were supported by the fans constantly. Montreal, at one time was a Brooklyn Dodger farm team. Jackie Robinson played there and the Montreal fans loved him. So they did have a fan base.

Consider this your only request to stop swearing in here. You won't get another. And don't complain to any of the mods if someone insults Canada. The way I see it, you've left yourself open for it. Then again, I could be wrong because I'm American and I am full of myself.

to answer Timay2k4 questin the leader of Canada is Prime Minister Paul Martin.

i don't about all countries in the world, as there way to many to even begin to know the answer, but as far i know the united states in the modern woulrd country that leader is titled as "President" most other countries gov leader are titled Prime Minister or Chairman, or something simialir.

the us is purprously called President and comes from U.S. History, for the days conional America. they wanted tems as far away from Euroupean terms as they reasonably could be. so there are know kings or Prime Ministers related diriectly to our leadership. its really historal matter in the U.S.

Everytime I see such a huge quantity of idiotic American posts, I feel even more proud to be a Canadian. [Like as if I needed another reason]

I know that not all Americans are idiots. Much of the Northeast US likes hockey after all [the same people who DON'T vote George W.]!

And to say that Canada know nothing about baseball, basketball, football is just plain dumb. Is that because we don't have as many Major Leagers or GM's as the US? Does that mean that the Dominican Rep. doesn't know anything about baseball? None of the MLB GM's are from the Dominican Rep. What about Japan? Puerto Rico? etc etc.

My point about the Expos is: Baseball is a sport that takes more pride in it's history than any other sport. The Expos are a team that had a great history and following until the 1994 strike. Many greats have played in Montreal. It's truly unfortunate that this team had to leave [but, they actually, financially had to go.]

Thanks

I guess the first amendment doesn't apply to canadians. I thought this was the land of the free and people have a right to express their freedom of speech. What country are you from? I'm American and I am ashamed of a lot of American poeple. I feel that Bush supporters are more idiotic then the man himself.
