krawhitham
Really? I read somewhere it did. 20 & 60 GB systems had hardware PS2 support played like 99% of all games the 80 GB system had software support which played like 75% of the games the 40GB plays 0%, it has no PS2 support
pujols
I've been thinking about getting a PS3 but I'm not so sure now. The only games I'd probably play are MLB The Show and Resistance. Is there anything decent coming out soon?
krawhitham
the 360 didnt suck nearly has bad as the ps3 did in its first year... ps3 has serious frame rate issues as in every game that is playable for both consoles, the 360 one is much smoother and looks a whole lot better. you want to how how bad the PS3 1st year has been? EA make twice as much money on mobile games for PHONES that it did off of PS3 game sales In the third quarter of 2007, EA made a whopping great $640 million (£311m) in revenues from all its gaming platforms. But it's the breakdown that's interesting. Xbox 360 was the publisher's biggest cash cow with $218 million (£106m), followed by PlayStation 2 ($73m/£35m), Wii ($59m/£29m), and DS ($47m/£23m). But next comes mobile with $37 million (£18m), ahead of PSP ($21m/£10m) and PS3 ($17m/£8m).
Kccitystar
The thing is, the PS3 controller is exactly the same as the PS2 controller although for the time being it is not identically constructed (diff material, lighter weight). I don't understand why he would like to switch over to a newer controller configuration he might not be familiar with. On a side note, I didn't miss this golden nugget the 360 didnt suck nearly has bad as the ps3 did in its first year... ps3 has serious frame rate issues as in every game that is playable for both consoles, the 360 one is much smoother and looks a whole lot better. Of course, games that are ported over to the PS3 in its infancy will not be as good as the primary platform of development (X360). The PS3 visuals in certain games look just as good as the XBOX360s, and I understand that it's not always developer incompetence. This year is gonna be the one that makes or breaks the system. Worst case scenario, Sony ends up like Nintendo and only its 1st party games are the ones worth buying... And even if that ends up being the case, it'll still be a worthwhile system to own. Its like itunes vs CD. Of course mobile will have better revenues. Doesn't change the fact that PS3 is still only a year in.

Square has 6 mobile games, never heard of any of them I have never bought a mobile game and do not know of anyone that has. Who the hell wants to play a game on a 3x2 inch screen? how much is a mobile game? a PS3 game is $60. I'll guess and say $10 for a mobile game 283,333 PS3 games VS 3,400,000 phone games

kazmatsui10
come on you've got to find your groove... i was a skeptic at first, but it's didn't take long for me to get in the game... just play w/ a friend, and you'll be guaranteed a couple hours of ecstacy and bruised faces... Kccitystar
Kraw you mean to tell me you haven't played Mario Galaxy yet? EA has made only 2 high profile games on the PS3, Madden 08 and FIFA08. Both sold really well off the name alone. The rest are nothing but crappy late ports that no one cares about. Burnout: Paradise will sell well on the PS3. There are what, maybe...3 Million PS3's in the US? If ONE THIRD of the US population has a cell phone, then that's 100,000,000 potential buyers for these games. EA's big problem with the PS3 so far is that they aren't even trying on this console. Let's take the two iterations of Madden that have released on the console. 07 and 08. For 07 it sold about as well as you could expect with a new console. EA actually did pretty well at the launch of the PS3 as someone mentioned earlier. Then they could get away with the rushjobs of the ports of their games and they'd be forgiven. Borgi
i had a ps2, never had an original xbox and got the 360...it is simple to get used to the controls, if that is going to be the reason you wont get it, thats a big mistake...i havent played playstation three yet, but i know ive loved every minute of my xbox
pistonj92
I would go with the PS3, the PS3 owners are an elite class. Games are coming back to decent framerates.
BigRog
80 gb and the 60 gb are being taken off the market so it was a good thing for kraw to mention the 40 gb model not being backwards compatible. as for which system did better at launch, wasn't 360 sold out even to preorders for a good 6 months or something because everyone was buying it while you could instantly find a 60 gb model after about a month. (i know there was a shortage of 360, but i thought even playstation didn't make that many at launch also) i still says he goes with 360. In my opinion blue ray will go no where so thats a waste. Its at HD dvds baby. As for games, alot of games that where exclusive to playstation are being put on xbox now also. I went onto the marketplace and i saw a trailer for final fantasy on xbox, FINAL FANTASY, which is one of playstation's number one seller when it comes to exclusive games. on a side note though, whats up with both xbox and ps3 coming out with controller gloves now. I didn't know they where the wii

An elite class, what kind of horse shit is that the orange box has frame rate issues so I guess "Games are coming back to decent framerates" will take place at some future date? So after the midnight launch and another 7 hours Best Buy had only sold a hand few. I bought into the hype picked up 4 more (I did preorder 4 before hand at EB games) of them to sell on ebay and NONE of them sold with all 8 buyers backing out I have sold a lot of crap on fleabay and that was the 1st time any buyer had ever backed out

Dan
I'm leaning toward the 360 now, after reading all of your comments (which I greatly appreciate). As far as 360 on launch day, you couldn't get one within 50 miles of here and we're a relatively older (resident age-wise) town. My uncle placed a joke ad in the newspaper two days before Christmas that my dad had 5 360s to sell. We were getting calls on Christmas eve. Damn him! :-p I will give it some more thought, though it'll probably be a 360 for me. Thanks again! -dan
