2008 Spring Training - Age 21 LHP 36/45 | RHP 50/57

2009 Spring Training - Age 22 LHP 44/53 | RHP 58/64

2010 Spring Training - Age 23 LHP 52/61 | RHP 66/71

2011 Spring Training - Age 24 LHP 60/69 | RHP 74/78

2012 Spring Training - Age 25 LHP 62/71 | RHP 76/80

That would be

New Rating = OldRating + (4*2) + 0

4 being the amount of stars, *2 for the age group 21-24.

Then at 25 it's New Rating = OldRating + (4/2) + 0

/2 for the age group 25-29

So basically it would mean a 4 star prospect gets +8 from 21-24, +2 25-29. A 5 star would get +10 from 21-24, +3 in odd years 25-29 and +2 even years 25-29.

Then from 30-34 just add 0 for age stats and then for gradual decrease, maybe x=10/(Amount of stars) at 35, and every year after that being x = x*2. So for instance a 5 star would lose 2 points at 35, 4 at 36, 8 at 37, 16 at 38, 32 at 39.

Very very quicky formula...I tried to guess what his ratings would be at 24 and tried to figure out a good way to get to there.

When including stats though...would want to knock that down a notch I'm sure.

So to simplify:

If age is less than 25; NewRating = OldRating + (stars * 2)

If age is 25,26,27,28,29; NewRating = OldRating + (stars / 2)

If age is 30,31,32,33,34; NewRating = OldRating

If age is 35 or greater; NewRating = OldRating - (10/stars) * (age - 34)

I think I changed your 35 or greater formula. (I'm not sure if you miscalculated on your examples, or if that was intentional. It seems too extreme)

From the 35 or greater examples you gave, your formula would be:

NewRating = OldRating - (10/stars) ^ (age - 34);

whil that is all well and good we cant increae power and speed ratings at the same rate

differant types of stats need to effect players IE if a player hit has under 20 HR and over 30 SB and he is 20 years old his power should not be increased at a great amount however his stealing tendency should rise significantly

Which of these attributes should progress? (And how?) Of course they have to be done differently than above. The numbers after each attribute is Rasmus's rating. (All except speed are on a scale of 0-15. 0 = 0, 5 = 50, 6 = 55, 14 = 95, 15 = 99)

1. Discipline - 8

2. Bunting - 6

3. Stealing Aggressiveness - 13

4. Baserunning - 8

5. Speed - 89

6. Fielding - 7

7. Range - 11

8. Throwing Strength - 9

9. Throwing Accuracy - 7

10. Durability - 13

I agree speed should not increase, and should decrease after a certain point in the players career. But when and how much?

I personally wouldn't change any of those. Rarely do you see players increase in those catagories, really, and KG's/Totte's rosters are normally spot on with those.

EDIT:

All of them, outside of plate discipline and maybe bunting, should regress at a certain point though.

I'll try and post something later.

Ive got the concept

Star Rating = Multiplier

1 star = 1

2 star 1.5

3 star 2

4 star 2.5

5 star 3

Each Category is judged by 5 Key Numbers 1 of which is always Age. These 5 key numbers are rated on a0.51-10 scale added and multiplied by the multiplier.(.5 makes the multiplier work againt him AKA for players who are like 45 but still playing because they used to be stars) So if All thr star align a 5 satr prospect could recive 15 pnts to any attribute.

Example:

Power might be rated on

Age

Home Runs Twice

Doubles

and Slugging percentage.

guy is say 24 years old right in the hear of power development get a 10

last year he hit 27 HR pretty good for a guy whoose 24 give him an 8 and another 8 because they count twice

last year he Hit 40 double which is pretty sweet give hima a 9

last year he slugged .570 not to shabby give him a 7

Age = 10

Hr = 16

Doubles = 9

Slugging = 7

Total = 42

4 star prospect

42 x 2.5 = 105

105/10 = 10.5 always round down = 10 means he gets 10 to both power stats

thats the idea

  • 2 weeks later...

Good idea :)

Did you send this to him in a pm?

updating players on just one year of stats is crazy

I thought we were talking about having tywig add three-year splits. My bad as I didn't read carefully :)

I disagree; Carlos Pena has hit 40+ homers for the last 6 years, and will probably keep doing so for the next 10 years. Right? And what about perennial all stars Adrian beltre and Gary Matthews Jr?
