EA may buy off Take Two

Michael Pachter, Wedbush Morgan Securities:

I don't think that they'll do anything. They were already competing with both companies, and the combination doesn't change that. Activision has no money for at least a year, and EA should just stick with their strategy. Ubisoft is probably too expensive for them, and the other companies don't add all that much.

EA has no interest in TTWO, too much to turnaround, and no guarantee of keeping the talent. EA has enough problems with their own turnaround, doesn't need the headache. The Rockstar contract expires in 14 months, so there's too much risk that those guys pull a Bungie. It's smarter to wait until they are free agents and negotiate directly with them. Also, if Rockstar is worth $1 billion, how much goes to the employees and how much to TTWO shareholders? It doesn't make sense that the employees would transfer over in a sale.

i probably sound like a retard but if they acquire take two...wouldnt the big company still own the rights to mlb?

What do you mean by "the big company"?

Take Two has the MLB license. 2K is owned by Take Two.

So if EA buys Take Two, they would get Take Two, the MLB license, and 2K, and anything else that Take Two owns.

don't really care who's buying who..

as long the people who made MVP 2005 release another baseball PC game.

right now, pretty much all the baseball games on the market are crap.

except for that japanese baseball game "pro yakyuu spirit 4"

holy ****, it looks amazing.

too bad it's all in japanese, or otherwise i would've go and buy a PS3 just for that.

Guys I have something serious to discuss about MVP and Ben Brinkman. There is a terrible rumour spreading around that may explain why MVP 05 is so much better than every baseball game released since. There is a new report posted by the Washington Post revealing that when Ben Brinkman created MVP 05 back in the spring 2004 he may have been injected with an illegal performance enhancing substance. I will keep you all informed as more intel breaks. Thanks!

May we ask why?

I enjoy the MVP series but i also like the MLB 2K series, but if EA buys 2K then the NBA 2K series would be over and i will have to suffer with the crappiness of NBA LIVE. I play Nba 2k8 over basically any game i have. Also Madden is still bad then i would have to suffer with that game forever.

how do we know that they will add the best parts of 2k to live though? Without the competition they will slack off as they did with madden. I liked Madden 08 but still they have a long way to go. Mvp would be released again but I loved 2k7 and I'm fine with just having MVP 2005.

That's your opinion and that's fine. However, I would surmise that you are in the minority. I would like a new MVP basball as I am currently playing a game made 4 years ago.

Well I wouldn't mind having MVP back but not instead of 2k. In my opinion 2k had/has the best gameplay and graphics. One of the things I hated was the minor league system in 2k but they're changing it this year. Still though I would like it if Mvp still made their game. Not just to have the game but for the competition. That makes games better. Although even with live. there is really no competition for 2k. lol

You don't. That's why I hate when companies buy the rights. If Madden or 2k stink then I have to go back to NFL 2k5 and MVP 2005. Not bad options just out of date. And 2k's gameplay did not suck. It was good.

the throwing? you are telling that didnt suck? the pickoffs that froze the runner and wouldnt let you do anything? the pitches that are thrown at the batters head inwhich the batter hits it of the handle opposite field into the upper deck? homers that went to the same place every time?

Post should be nominated for post of the year. This displays pure Idiocy right here

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. I love that. 2K Baseball is BY FAR the WORST POS I have ever played. It is the reason that I am on a mod site for a game that is 4 YEARS OLD!!!!! There.......I've got it out of my system.
