ronmexico
Good to see you finally made the plunge, I transitioned into HD about 6 months ago and have not looked back since. I remember watching it at first, with a regular box and going, WTF this is what HD is all about, its just bigger, and blurrier? Then I realized that I needed an HD box... boy did I feel stupid. Got the box and have had loads of fun with it since Sports are a lot better in HD.

maddux31
I bought Sony's HD-DVD player and absolutely love the quality, plus my tv is a sony XBR2, which has 1080p that is not available yet, but supposedly direct-tv and dish are going to be the one's offering first. BTW- direct-tv and dish have the best hd selection and quality, like kraw had pointed out.

Directv is a no brainer. I've been with them for years and I can basically push them around to get hardware when I need it. They are the best not only now in HD availability, but sports packages (NFL Superfan Ticket is a must to get my Bucs every week) and customer service is bar none the best. I hate cable...you're just a number to them and they really don't care what type of complaint it happens to be. And if they've changed...it's because their getting their proverbial a$$ kicked in right now by Direct. So they can save it...

That front that came through last night...tornado watch etc...had no effect on my reception. I get interference about 3 times a year and it's usually only for a few minutes during a real bad storm. When cable goes down...you might as well pop in a movie...cause you're at the mercy of the cable repair guy going to the hub and getting it fixed of which was usually hours when I was with Time Warner. You obviously haven't been slapped around enough by cable to know better. I just hope Direct keeps up with their customer service as more and more people move to them. I live in the St. Augustine, FL myself and in Tampa, FL before now...I'm glad you get good service from Comcast, because alot of us (meaning people I know) weren't. Anyways, without getting too much more into a debate...I've been on this side of the fence for a long time and as more channels go to HD, I'm a happy camper. Good Luck with Comcast. If you're talking Directv...I think the deal is if you set up as a new customer with them now you get an H20 HD receiver with your setup. I think they run around $99 but Best Buy or other retailers at times carry rebates (sometimes instant) on them.

I ordered it last night for $99, $33 a month for three months, which wasn't that bad. The best part is they're coming tomorrow to set it up. evil1182
WOW, I'm just amazed, the picture quality is unreal, I can't believe I waited so long. ESPN looks just amazing, too bad there's not much sports to watch now until the end of March. It came with a HDMI and component cables, so I don't think I should order new ones just yet. Snash13
I got a 12 bit color 60hz HDMI cable, is there a huge difference if i got a 12 bit 120 hz cable? In a word. Yes and No. There is a difference but to be honest I cant see it in the picture quality. I worked for Circuit City selling TV's for about a year and a half before we closed down..... Monster tries to suck out every penny but produces "higher" quality HDMI cables but honestly the picture quality is very little difference if any at least from what I can tell.
