Long Island Lightning

Okay, so this is my team for the National Baseball League through 15 rounds, on a scale of 1-10, let me know what you think of it.

1.) Stephen Drew, SS

93 Overall, 97 Peak

Drew is going to be a big key in the lineup for the Lightning in 2008. Most likely he will be batting in the number two hole. Stephen should be like a Derek Jeter like player for the Lightning in the years to come.

2.) David Wright, 3B

93 Overall, 97 Peak

David will be batting in the three hole for the Lightning in 2008. I am looking to build my franchise around him, a great hitter, has good speed, and is a gold glove third baseman. Wright should play a big role in the Lightning success in the years to come.

3.) Matt Cain, SP

92 Overall, 94 Peak

Matt is the ace of the staff for sure. At 23 years old, we are looking to keep him on the team for many years to come. We will be looking for Cain to develop a fourth pitch to add to his fastball, curveball, and change-up arsenal.

4.) Bobby Jenks, RP

88 Overall, 94 Peak

The Mariano Rivera of our ballclub should be Bobby Jenks. Bobby is a big, young hardthrowing righty that could easily throw in the range of 95-100 miles per hour. He may still be a bit raw but in a couple of years, he should be a real superstar in the NBL.

5.) Max Scherzer, SP

88 Overall, 96 Peak

Max has progressed a lot since coming from the Diamondbacks when the MLB was in existance. We are looking for him to become our number two starter behind Matt. This Spring Training, we are hoping for him to develop his two-seamer and slider. If these two pitches improve, we could see a competitor for the Cy Young award.

6.) Hanley Ramirez, SS

88 Overall, 94 Peak

This Spring Training, we are hoping to move Hanley over to second base. This is due to the fact that we will have Stephen Drew running the show at second base. Hanley should also be leading off for us in '08 with his blazing speed. Ramirez also has potential like a lot of guys on this team to be a superstar.

7.) Scott Olsen, SP

86 Overall, 93 Peak

Scott will be the third man in our rotation. Hopefully, we could help him improve his slider this Spring Training. If we could do so, Olsen will have a very strong three pitch arsenal that will go along with his fastball and change-up. Scott should also eat up a lot of innings for us as well in 2008 and the years to come.

8.) Wade Davis, SP

86 Overall, 90 Peak

The number four man in our rotation will be Wade Davis. Wade will bring a strong fastball and a hard curve to Long Island along with a slider and change-up. Like Olsen, Davis should eat up a lot of innings for us as well. Our pitching staff is shaping up to be a very strong one with the help of Davis.

9.) Chris Duncan, 1B

85 Overall, 85 Peak

Due to the short right field fence at Hicksville Park, we decided to pick up some left handed power. To do this, we brought in the big southpaw Chris Duncan. We expect Duncan to hit between 30-50 home runs this year for us. Duncan will be our DH for the year, as we will let Adrian Gonzalez play first.

10.) Adrian Gonzalez, 1B

85 Overall, 85 Peak

We thought Adrian would be a perfect choice for us due to the short right field fence again. Gonzalez will most likely be playing first base with the Lightning organization. We expect Gonzalez to be playing first base for us for many years to come. Our offense is beginning to look as strong as our pitching staff with the pick ups of Chris and Adrian.

11.) Matt Kemp, RF

83 Overall, 93 Peak

Matt should be a big producer to this Lightning offense. He will most likely be batting in the six or seven spot, where he will be able to produce after the big sticks of Duncan and Gonzalez. Kemp's speed should also help us out a lot. If he remains healthy, Kemp may be play a big role in Long Island's success.

12.) Felix Hernandez, SP

82 Overall, 97 Peak

I am very impressed with Felix's skills on the mound. The "King" will be coming into 2008 with a fastball, slider, curveball, and a change-up. King may still be raw as of now, but watch out, in a couple years he will rule the throne.

13.) Jarrod Saltalamacchia, C

80 Overall, 96 Peak

Salty is most likely not going to be on the major league roster for the 2008 season. He is one of our valuable gems that we are making sure we keep care of. Hopefully, he has a great year in AAA, so that in 2009, he is ready for the big show. I cannot wait to have Salty as our starting catcher!

14.) Billy Butler, LF

79 Overall, 89 Peak

Billy will be batting closer to the bottom of the lineup for us in 2008. This should give us some extra pop to the lineup. If he could produce for us, Billy should be expecting a nice career in a Long Island Lightning uniform.

15.) Adam Jones, CF

73 Overall, 90 Peak

This was our second option if Cameron Maybin was drafted. Turns out he was, but I believe that Adam may be a better player than Maybin. Adam has tremendous speed and he also has a good bat. Expect him to be in the 2009 Opening Day lineup for the Lightning as well as Salty. As of now, he will be down in AAA for us.

Other Team Info

Youngest Players: Felix Hernandez and Billy Butler, 21 years old

Thats it for now. I know I need more relief pitching. So, what changes do you think need to be made? Post it here!
