i am new to this..i own mvp 2005 and i want to know how all this conversion mods stuff works..how to i get it for my game?

Welcome to MVPMods. The Total Conversion mods modify your game files to essentially create a new game for you. You have a number of conversion mods to choose from:

MVP2007 - Updates the game to be current with the 2007 season (rosters, portraits, faces, stadiums, schedule, etc.)

Single season mods (1956, 1961, 1964, 1978, 1994) - These mods transform your game so that everything represents a particular Major League season. For example, the 1956 season mod will transform everything in the game (rosters, portraits, faces, player audio, music, menu screens, stadiums, etc.) to be accurate for the 1956 season. The one difference between the 1994 season mod and the other single season mod is that the 1994 mod has accurate minor league rosters as well.

Total Classics - This mod replaces all 120 teams in the game with classic teams covering a span of 100 years (1906 Cubs to the 2006 Tigers). This was the first conversion mod and served as the inspiration for the other classic single season mods.

There are also International conversion mods:

MVP Caribe - Updates the game to recreate Winter league baseball (complete with Caribbean teams, stadiums, etc.).

Nippon League Baseball - Updates the game to recreate Japanese league baseball.

All of the mods come with installers and instructions on how to install the mod. Many players have multiple copies of the game -- a "normal" MVP2005 install and then converted copies (i.e. versions with one or more conversion mods installed).

For example, to have a "normal" installation and a Total Classics 1978 installation, you would do this as follows:

1. Go to your Program Files EA Sports folder

2. Create a new folder (for example Total Classics 1978).

3. Copy everything (files and folders) from your MVP Baseball 2005 folder to your Total Classics 1978 folder.

4. Download the Total Classics 1978 mod and install it to your Program Files EA Sports Total Classics 1978 folder. When it is done, you now have two different installations of the game.

5. An optional final step is to create a new desktop icon to point to your Total Classics 1978 installation.

I'm not denying or agreeing, I'm just stating a opinion.

Also, good forum etiquette means its better to hold off on the multiple question marks, F.Y.I

See your trying to squeeze every little mistake out of me as possible like my 4 question marks. If you havent noticed lots of people do that.

thats because the 4 question mark thing can annoy people and you see that alot with new guys that want answers. I was telling you about the question mark thing nicely and wasn't mocking you at all. I've seen people completely blasted for it by admins before.

I'm not trying to put you down by this, I'm was just letting you know that in the rules it states:

Don't use all caps or special characters (*, #, ~, ^, etc.) to draw attention. Also, using multiple instances of the same character - for example, thread titles such as "Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" - should be avoided as well.

To get back on topic

thats awsome so how do i get started? does it cost anything?

it is free. just click on the download section which is a option on the top tool bar and search for the mods you want to download. You are going to download a .rar file usually. you want to download a program called winrar to un archive these. the readme files will be in the folder you just unarchived and it will contain install directions

I have a feeling that we won't be seing this member anytime soon. I just feel that all of this constant bickering has to stop.

nhballplayer1290, most, if not all the mods in the download section come with a readme file. It tells you exactly how and where to install the select files. If you have any problems with installing a certain mod, post here and I am sure me or anyone else will surely try and help you. Take care.

nhballplayer1290.....welcome to the site. What Jim posted in this thread to you is only a small part of what is on this site. Just about anything you can think of for this game is here. Up to date uniforms and stadiums, etc, etc. It's going to overwhelm you at first what you are going to be able to do to this game, but take your time, search the forums first if you have questions (because many of the questions you have have been asked already) and if you can't find your answer, don't be afraid to ask. Have fun and stay awhile.

For andrewdon and BigRog, take it to PM's. You both got to at least admit this is not the correct thread to argue back and forth. Have a good evening!

I didn't mean to hijack the thread and i should have took it to pm's sooner then I did. In my defense I did try to get back on topic and did explain somethings to him.

Welcome to the site nhballplayer1290.

Also, besides downloading these mods, it may be nice to download some of the utilities and tools, especially if you want to tinker around with what's in the game, make your own uniforms, modify the rosters, create a stadium among a ton of other things. For example, you can put yourself in the game or even in the crowd. There are a lot of things that can be done. But, usually playing with all these great mods get you thinking about doing something yourself in the game.

There is the softball mod that makes you think you may be playing softball. There are the bases mod that puts all of the teams' logos or names on the bases. And like what was said before, it's always good to go back to 1960's and play as those guys or see how Yankee Stadium was way back when. And since anyone who wants with the appropriate tools and ulilities can create mods themselves, the list of the mods become limitless.

Good luck your stay and enjoy.

When you copy your folder, just rename each folder as to what mod it is. Then you go into the folder and make a shortcut of the exe. Change the name of the shortcut to the mod and put that on your desktop.

Do that for each mod you have.

You can even make your own icons and put that in the MVP folder also
