Oh wells, seems we will have to just disagree on this one. No hair off my back. Ill just finish my sale and be happy. I just hope everyone else who sells their copies gets the same guff, funny how the other topics didnt nearly get this much attention nor same sort of response. Meh o wells. Ill just enjoy my game the same way i always have and not worry about forum dudes-_-
You do realize that cubs720 has made the most valid points in this thread. Your just too ignorant to comprehend what he is writing.

I believe the high bidder is a longtime member of this website community if I am not mistaken. If so, it would show that there is no blanket opinion on the matter shared by everyone.

Yeah I'm the highest bidder as I'm helping out a teammate who wants the game but is not in to the whole world of online auctions

Totte, I was going to bid on this but when I saw that you bid on it for a friend I didn't do it.

Thanks :hail:

If I end up on top of the auction, I know my friend will be really happy as I must be like the only guy in Sweden that owns a copy of the game.

I'm pulling for you. The bidding should be ending soon and I hope you get this.

I myself believe that this game sells so high because of the updates for it, and as it's not fair to the modders for people making money off their work, but you don't have a copyright for your work so there really isn't anything you can b*tch about. I also think that one reason the PC version selling for so much more is because of the scarcity as well, and since it was the best baseball game to come out on PC, and people knowing that there may never be another one, they want it. Also, linking to auctions for the XBOX/PS2 auctions was pretty much a waste of time (not trying to flame you CC720), but everyone knows that if they want that version with no updates, they can walk into a GameStop and find 10 copies for $3.99. But they also know that there will be new baseball games made for the console.

Also, here's a game that falls under the same thing as MVP. And this game was released in January 2003.

This game, just like MVP is constantly being updated, if not more often, and also has had a loyal fan base as well since it's incarnation. Also, out of all the links to the auctions, only one of them mentions that there are updates for the game, and it's not even the one going for the most $$$.

but you don't have a copyright for your work

You can copyright anything

In all countries where the Berne Convention standards apply, copyright is automatic, and need not be obtained through official registration with any government office. Once an idea has been reduced to tangible form, for example by securing it in a fixed medium (such as a drawing, sheet music, photograph, a videotape, or a computer file), the copyright holder is entitled to enforce his or her exclusive rights.

so there really isn't anything you can b*tch about.

Well I can stop releasing mods, I like that idea, lets go with that.

I call for a MVP modders strike

You have the worse case scenario with this guys auction.

A modder, a legend in the community is having to buy a copy of the game he mods for an outrageous price.

EA makes not money from sale

MLB makes not money from sale

MLBPA makes not money from sale

screw it, just download the game should be considered Abandonware anyway

Now if a modder wants to sell his game, I have no problem with that, he/she/it has earned that right

Hey, go for it, I won't be sad. Others might get mad, but hey, screw them right? Or, only release mods to the ones that donated. That sounds like a good idea too.

As much as I feel bad for Totte having to spend so much on the game because of his status, it isn't for him, it's for a friend. I had offered my copy in an old thread and no one ever took it seriously, and for a decent price too. So Totte, if you don't win, shoot me a message.

I wholeheartedly agree with you.

Well Kraw I would have to say that the people that want to or try to sell these mods are a very small percentage of the people here. Just imagine the poor sap that actually buys these mods and what he is going to think when he finds out all he had to do was join both sites and download what he wants, for free.

I've got CD's full of mods I have downloaded and I use them for only two reasons. First, if I want to go back and grab a uniform for example, I'll go on my CD and get it. And also if someone is looking for a program let's say like Loclook. Well, I got that on CD and if they need it I'll send it to them. I'm sure I'm not the only person who does this with the mods they've downloaded from here over the years.

I agree, but you got to realize this. Totte does have his well deserved status on two sites. On e-bay, he's just another bidder. I think it sucks that this guy has to pay through the nose for this game but he isn't alone. I'm not sure if you remember this, but not too long ago (way over a year ago) someone on here gave us a link to Amazon.com and they were selling Mvp 2005 for 250 dollars. No lie. Does anyone remember that?

Two things wrong with that Kraw. If people start doing that, that is when EA will step in and plant their big foot down. I agree with you, this game sure does look like abandonware but I'm simply saying I don't trust EA.

Also, what if they do download this game? When we installed the 07 mod it was required that we have the original disks during installation and for the 08 mod I am guessing you want the same. So if someone downloads this game they won't be able to use the 07 or 08 versions.

It does not require the original disks, never has. I have not put the original disks in a computer in 3 years.

load the disc images in Daemon tool and rock on

Yeah I know all 3 replies should have been one message, but I have to build up my post count so people will respect me :)

My brain is just working slow today it might be that migraine.

I do not fear EA anymore, I fear MLB, MLBPA, T2, & Sony. EA does not give 2 shits about us anymore. The only people we hurt are the ones listed above. We are taking money out of their pocket when we release mods, the better we can make this game maybe the fewer people will buy the new baseball games for consoles

Is there a specific version that works best for that? And what did you use to image the disks in the first place?
