Reorganized MLB Divisions

I am trying to figure out how to reorganize the MLB teams into different divisions for a new dynasty I want to try out. Basically, the AL and NL would be split by big-market teams and small-market teams. The division order I am thinking of would be:

AL East

Yankees

Red Sox

Mets

Braves

Philadelphia

AL Central

Cubs

White Sox

Detroit

St. Louis

Diamondbacks

AL West

Dodgers

Angels

Giants

Padres

NL East

Baltimore

Washington

Tampa

Florida

Toronto

NL Central

Reds

Brewers

Royals

Indians

Pirates

Twins

NL West

Mariners

Rockies

Astros

Rangers

A's

Of course, all of the schedules would have to be adjusted so that teams play their divisional opponents the correct number of times....but I think this could be interesting.

If anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Seems very similar to what I had done with my dynasty - http://www.mvpmods.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=...5/start=15.html

To change the division in which each team plays, open up team.dat (located in your database folder) using either notepad or wordpad and make your necessary changes.

At the top of the file there is a legend that tells you as to what each value represents. Here's the legend:

0 unique_team,1 team_location,2 team_long_name,3 team_short_name,4 team_league,5 team_division,6 team_artid,7 team_climatezone,8 team_homeintensity,9 team_vs_ana,10 team_vs_oak,11 team_vs_sea,12 team_vs_tex,13 team_vs_cws,14 team_vs_cle,15 team_vs_det,16 team_vs_kc,17 team_vs_min,18 team_vs_bal,19 team_vs_bos,20 team_vs_nyy,21 team_vs_tam,22 team_vs_tor,23 team_vs_ari,24 team_vs_col,25 team_vs_la,26 team_vs_sdp,27 team_vs_sfg,28 team_vs_cub,29 team_vs_cin,30 team_vs_hou,31 team_vs_mil,32 team_vs_pit,33 team_vs_stl,34 team_vs_atl,35 team_vs_fla,36 team_vs_mon,37 team_vs_nym,38 team_vs_phi,39 team_vs_al,40 team_vs_nl,41 team_pinchhitter,42 team_pinchrunner,43 team_pitchersub,44 team_defensivesub,45 team_defensivealign,46 team_takepitch,47 team_sacbunt,48 team_buntforhit,49 team_pickoff,50 team_int_walks,51 team_hitandrun,52 team_steals,53 team_advancebases,54 team_suicidesqueeze,;

Basically you would just need to edit numbers 4 and 5 as they represent the league and the division in which the particular team plays.

As far as the schedule goes, there is really no quick and easy process. You have to edit the file inside schedule.big. Open schedule.big using EAGraph, extract mlb162_1.dat and open the file using notepad or wordpad and make your changes. The file can also be opened using excel and it may actually be a little easier for you to edit it using that software.

EDITED by RaptorQuiz, to change "code" segment to "quote" segment, to avoid forcing the page-width to be so wide.

I like it, but the NL East is way too weak.

Right now they may be, but Toronto has some talent and certainly the Rays and Marlins have some young talent. The other thought I had was flip-flopping Baltimore and Atlanta, but I like the idea of the O's and Nats developing a regional rivalry there.

Decisions....decisions...

How dare you put the Cubs in the AL? That's like having the pope suddenly becoming a mormon or something. It just doesn't seem right. There better not be a DH, that's all I have to say. But seriously, though, interesting idea. I like the idea of giving small-market teams a shot instead of the Steinbrenn-opoly or the Turner-dom making up the division leaders.
