So I took the job as restaurant manager at Montana's Cookhouse.....seems like it is a step in the right direction....money's excellent, benefits are great, and there is a chance to move into a district manager's position in time....anxious to get started.

Congrads. Wish you well at the new job. Bon Appetite.

systems engineer for the next nuclear reactor that will be coming online in the US (2013?)

I seriously doubt Watts Bar Unit 2 ever goes live, way too many quality assurance issues.

I think the NRC will shut it down after a series of hearings. Construction was stopped in 1985 for a reason and is was not because of cost over runs.

Unit 2 was far worse off than Unit 1 back in 85

I'm 31 years old and recently passed the California Bar Exam. Thus, I can now say, quite proudly, that I am a bona-fide attorney. I am currently employed as a deputy public defender in a Southern California county.

Phone-based I.T. technical support (with my own special brand of customer service built in ;) ) during the day and some personal I.T. repairs and consultancy work in my free time.

(To anyone considering entering this field of work, either now or in future, do not let family and friends know about your job unless you absolutely have to - the main reason being that as soon as they know, you will become their personal, free-of-charge, I.T. repairman. When they want a PC fixed up, or have finally had enough of their virus-plagued system, you'll get that phone call.)

My job is also in the IT field, and I travel frequently as a consultant. And MarkB is right. I get calls from family ALL THE TIME. From removing a virus from their PC, to getting advice on what to buy, to trying to troubleshoot a PC a relative or friend bought at a flea market. I get all kinds of calls. Pretty crazy, eh? You betcha! 8) :p

I work at a insulation, roofing, siding supply company as basically a manager type. Small company, not a national chain, 7-4 mon thru friday, 7:30- 11 on sat. Pretty much in charge of keeping stock in check, setting up runs and routing my driver, and any type of responsibility of a manager, also supposed to be a windows and siding specialist (still working on that). Like i said small company so I have to wear many hats, at times it can be really stressful and busy, other times I have hours at a time to surf the net. I am actually posting from work right now on a caffeine high, no boss today and nothing to do.

I'm in college looking for a summer job right now. Semester's almost over, thank god. I am a Business Administration major. I cannot wait to get that degree so I can go upper management and boss people around. I'll be the dick boss who pushes that one guy just too far. I wonder what happens next =P?

I'm a highway designer with the state DOT. It's hard keeping up with all the roads that are falling apart with not enough money to fix them. Everybody hates the gas tax, but it's what provides for smooth and safe roads...

My sister mentioned something to me one time about how engineers came up with an idea for roads to stay smooth forever. However, they won't incorporate this anywhere because it would cause many people to lose their jobs.

Come to Michigan, the roads are terrible. When you cross over into Ohio, it is like night and day.

I work for Clear Channel Taxi Media as a IT and database administrator. I get to keep track of all the ads on New York taxis, how many there are, how long the ads run for and when the ads are suppost to be changed. Right now we're introducing the new Vert tops. Basically those are 30" TV's on top of the taxis with commercials running on them that I can change by entering the new ad on a computor and then uploading them via wireless to the taxi tops. Since this program is just starting out, I get to work 50 - 60 hours per week right now. :hic:

Oh, by the way, I agree with every other IT person on here. NEVER let anyone you know about your IT job. Unless you really enjoy getting calls from "friends and relitives" about their computor problems at all hours, day or night. :eew:
