jlterry
Hey guys, I just downloaded and installed the 07: reboot mod for MVP 05 and I'm having a problem. As soon as I start the game, the loading bar comes up over the picture of Ken Griffey Jr. and the game immediately crashes. Does anyone know what I need to do to actually get it to work? P.S. Yes, I am using the actual game disks.
Maestro23
Welcome to the site.... Are you running a Firewall/Anti-virus program in the background? If so, turn them off and try running the game again.
jlterry
Nope. I've gone and turned off every fire wall (I usually don't even have them running anyway). It's still crashing.
mvp23
If you are running it on windows vista you have to run everyting as adminstrator
jlterry
I'm on Windows XP. Does anyone not have an answer? I just paid a lot of money for this game and I'm pretty pissed that the mods do not work.
Yankee4Life
I'm on Windows XP. Does anyone not have an answer? I just paid a lot of money for this game and I'm pretty **** that the mods do not work. People are trying to help you. That is what I have been seeing. And you seem to be the only one here out of the thousands and thousands of people registered here that are blaming the mods because they "do not work." They sure as hell seem to work for everyone else except you. Maybe you don't know what the hell you are doing. Ever think of that? If you keep going around blaming the mods for your problems you won't get any help from these guys. Just a word to the wise.
Homer
kind of what he said in a nutshell. it'll work if you can find what's causing the crashing since it's worked for almost everyone else. the questions would be like this: what kind of system are you running it on? exactly what did you install? did you install anything else? how did you install everything? krawhitham
1st make sure your are using TiT RC12+ REboot is 100% complete files, only 3 options here really 1st something is wrong with your discs and it did not get all the files needed 2nd a corrupted download of REboot 3rd something is hinky with you PC how far does the loading bar go across the screen before failure? jlterry
I was not blaming the mods. Sorry if it came off that way. I just get really touchy when technology doesn't work. Haha. I apologize if I sounded rash and I really appreciate all those that have tried to help me. I've redownloaded REBOOT and I'm going to try it again. As far as installing it, I did exactly as it was described in the thread here http://www.eamods.com/Downloads/details/id=312.html And when the Griffey screen comes up it only loads to about the 10% mark before crashing. You are not the only person that has trouble with this. And that's good news for you. You see, this problem has been talked about before and other people have said the same thing..."during the Griffey screen it loads and then stops and crashes." I would recommend you checking out this thread right here and maybe something in there can help you. I understand that this can be frustrating at first, so best of luck. Also, post back in here whatever you find out and if you get it to work.
jlterry
Hey Yankee4Life, thanks for the link. I've tried several of the items discussed in the thread but nothing worked. Just an update, I reinstalled Rc12 (just to make sure I had the right version) as well as redownloaded 07:Reboot and the same crashing problem still exists. I will keep searching around but I'm really not finding anything other than "turn your firewall off" which I've done. Thanks everyone

krawhitham
have you just installed the original game to see if it works? that is your video card?
Yankee4Life
Jlterry, that's a good idea. Do what Kraw suggested. Install the original game and start that up to see if it works before you install the reboot version. Also, how much RAM do you have?

jlterry
I have 1 Gig of ram. i'm not sure about my video card, but I do know that my laptop really isn't suited for gaming. I bet that's it. I've been playing the original game for a few hours and it works flawlessly
Yankee4Life
One gig of RAM is more than enough for this game, you are all set in that department.
krawhitham
download filemon http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb896642.aspx have it capture requests from mvp2005.exe when it crashed save the log and post it here
jlterry
On another note, I downloaded an overlay to go with my copy of the game. This work great but as the loading screen to enter a game ended, the game crashed again. Could this be something with the graphics's card? I'll do that krawhitham

A couple of them are resource hogs and will cause your game to crash or run very slow depending on your system specs and other mods you have installed. Just a suggestion, but I would not worry about installing any other mods until you get the basic 07 mod running smoothly first. Then you can add on from there. Will help you in trouble shooting problems down the road as well.
Yankee4Life
Jlterry, Kraw knows what he's doing with this stuff and I'm sure when this is all said and done you'll be playing your game very soon. I'm sure it is something minor that's just causing a glitch now.
jlterry
I certainly hope so. krawhitham
he installed 05, then used EA's #2 patch, then 07 deleted everything when it installed so he really does not have patch 2 If you post the log from filemon we will know what file is causing the crash
