Mav3rek
I am connected to my works network/internet with a cable. I can bring in my laptop and use it at will. The laptop has a wireless network card installed. My work has a wireless network, but it is a secure network. How can I figure out what the wireless network key is? The IT admin is a jerk and is impossible to deal with, so I don't want to have to ask him and deal with him. I have a PC that is connected to the network and would like to run a program on that computer that will give me the network key so that I can enter it on my laptop and have internet. MarkB
You'd need to know the encryption type being used. There are a few utilities that can obtain the keys for wireless networks, especially ones that use WPA or WEP encryption, but if something stronger is being used, you might have some trouble. If you want access to your work's wireless network, the I.T. guys are there for a reason. One of their jobs is to protect the network and ensure stability for regular users and to prevent unauthorised access as much as possible. You want access, you go through them. If they're jerks, maybe it's because they've had to deal with a few too many stupid users in their time. God knows, I know the feeling. That said, this isn't exactly a good location to discuss what boils down to hacking your work's wireless network - especially if you view this website while at work. Locking. Any questions regarding the lock, PM me.
