baseballfans
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-y...ov=ap&type=lgns Hideki Matsui disappears Wednesday to get married. On Thursday, it transpired that earlier this year, Matsui, while already engaged, had joined a bet with Derek Jeter and Bobby Abreu. The three would award the prize to the one that got married first. Matsui won, tying the knot with his girlfriend, a woman he said is "a 25-year-old civilian and had formerly been working in a reputable position at a highly respected company. Jeter wasn't pleased he got played for the fool. “That’s not hilarious, that’s sad, that’s real sad,†Jeter said. “If he wanted the money, all he had to do was ask. He didn’t really have to do it.†Jeter knows the name of the anonymous bride, and he said he'll reveal it if Matsui doesn't fork over the money. But he also told reporters, “I got one year? No chance. I’ll give him the money today. That’s pretty good. How do you say sneaky in Japanese?"
mrmet06
He sounds like a real douche, apparently assuming he married her just to win the bet rather than, ya know, actual LOVE?!?!? I hope he pays up and stops being such a killjoy.

MarlinsMS_35
The thing is that he already hasd plans to get married, and made the bet knowing that he would win. That's how I read it.

Sandlot
What's the big deal, Jeter will probably just buy him dinner or something like that.
ronmexico
I don't think Jeter can afford that.
