Tenshi28
Hi everybody, my problem is that I find it really hard to get strikeouts, basically because the computer practically doesn't swing the bat at any ball outside the stike zone. To solve this I was thinking in two possible opposite solutions: - Increase the CPU batting frequency, that way it would be possible to throw some balls for strikes if the computer goes for it. - Decrease the CPU batting frequency, that way I can throw the ball on the strike zone and have the computer not swing (as it is now, the CPU pretty much hits anything thrown in the strike zone). As I want to keep the game as realistic as possible, I was also thinking of decreasing the user's pitcher accuracy to compensate for the change in sliders in the CPU. Anyway, just wanted to know what you guys think is the best way to solve this problem. Also, if anybody has a good set of sliders that works well in MVP mode also will be welcome. Thanks a lot. Kayxero
Lol. I use MVP mode all the time. What is prolly killing you is pitch selection. I always start out with painted corners heat on 0-0 0-1 or 1-0 counts. If the count is even or Im ahead ill throw a slider thats off the zone for a ball, but just enough so it looks like a strike coming in, but once they swing they miss it, or make contact for an easy out. If they dont swing and i get behind I come back with heat. Of course if you go offspeed when youre behind they will def wait on it. Depends if its a power hitter, middle lineup, or weak hitter. Any two strike situations, i throw junk. Make em chase because your at the advantage. Use your best pitch. If its as curve than down low, fastballs are up high, cutters inside, changeups low and away. Try that. I always felt sliders to make the game easier showed weakness in a game. For me I always like to master the game without the help of setting it differently. Once its mastered then I tweak it to make it harder and a ***** to play. Btw, use search next time because there are many threads asking this, which have around the same advice, or give slider download opinions.
Hoop27
i know some guys have used my slider sets on MVP with success, but as kayxero said alot of it has to do with pitch selection and location. if you are hitting the fat part of the plate the computer will hit it. my two suggestions are 1) when you have 2 strikes on the batter you need to place the "strikeout pitch" just off the plate too far and they wont chase. 2) lower the cpu swing frequency and cpu contact sliders. good luck

Thanks for the extensive answer and sorry for bringing up something it was already discussed, I just thought my question was specific enough to be worth of opening a new post, since I was not just looking for a set of general sliders. About what you said, I don't really want to change the sliders to make the game "easier", I just feel that, as it is now, it's not being very realistic, that's all. Following your advice, I'll try a more extensive mix of pitches and locations deppending on the count and the kind of hitter and see if I get better results. maxbjr
Getting the cpu to strikeout also depends on which datafile you use. There are 3 good ones, KSM datafile 4.7, (the one I use), kumala datafile final, and MD's datafile 3.1. Those are the three I've used, there are a few others but since I haven't used them, I can't comment on them.

Sorry if this sounds like a newbie question, but what would be the major differences in using one of those datafile you mention?
xiberger
The datafile can change almost every apsect of the game. It can increase your batting power, realign the position of your defense, change the camera views etc. Try some and you'll see the difference. I have just been playing around a bit with one of those datafiles and, as a matter of fact, I have felt the realism of the game has got quite better. It's actually quite remarkable, with the camera changes and how even the physics of the ball feels totally different, it's almost like playing a different game. Now I guess it's a matter of tweaking the sliders to get the best possible baseball experience.
