tyger
One of the things that I love about baseball, and talking about baseball, is the fact that there are so many statistical catagories to back up your arguments. However looking at the zone ratings (PO + A) divided by innings and range factors (the percentage of balls fielded by a player in his typical defensive "zone," as measured by STATS, Inc.) I saw many inconsistoncies to players who are typically credited with being great defensive players. Most notable was Andruw Jones who ranked towards the middle of the league in ZR and towards the bottom of the league in RF. Considering Jones is typically credited for having a great arm and great range, I cannot see why he would rate so low in these stats. Any explination would be appreciated. DoubleD
ZR and RF are very old, outdated fielding stats that aren't very good Currently the best are +/- www.fieldingbible.com and rzr/ooz www.hardballtimes.com Personally I perfer +/- these have players like Andruw rated at the top
