choppy gameplay, other issues

So i just used TiT to install the 07 Reboot edition, then tacked on KGs 5.0 Rosters, the 2008 Schedule, and Total Portraits 2007. I started playing, and noticed the gameplay was choppy, very choppy, at least until it crashed on me and i had to restart my computer. If i lower the resolution, it becomes a little less choppy, but at the expense of much poorer quality. Any suggestions? I have a new computer with a good enough graphics card that I should not be having any of these problems. Also, am i going to have to install the pitch meter fix, the pirate stadium crash fix, or anything else i may be missing? or is any of that included in the Reboot Edition. Thanks so much

the model is a Dell Vostro 1700, with:

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7250 (2.0GHz/800Mhz FSB/2MB cache)

1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz, 2 DIMM

Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator X3100

120GB 5400RPM Hard Drive

the only antivirus software i have running right now is AVG Antivirus, and i dont know if that does any firewalling- its the free version that comes off download.com. any other specs you need to know of?

You are not going to be able to run the game on highest graphical detail because of the 1GB of RAM and the integrated graphic chip. That chip uses(shares) some of your system RAM (up to 384MB - I believe) to process the graphics of the games. This is taxing your system resources, hence the crashes.

Crashes can be caused if the system is working to hard to run the game and is over-heating.

The '07 mod is a lot more graphic intense than the original '05 game.

i do intend to upgrade to 4GB RAM in the near future...will this enhance gameplay, and by how much? the graphics card im not worried about because its better than the one i had on my old Dell Inspiron 9400 that had an Intel Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator 945 and ran the 07 Mod fine...so will the RAM upgrade help?

Yes, that RAM upgrade will help you out greatly. Gives the video chip the RAM it needs with plenty left over for the system.

That's disappointing. My system specs are very similar to his, only my motherboard will only support a max of 1GB of RAM. I also have a new nVidia 6200 graphics card, but apparently, the processing power just isn't there. It runs well enough to play MVP 1994, but I installed MVP 2007 last night with KG's new roster, and it crashed right as soon as the field was about show on display.

Oh well, at least the new rosters are great, and I can install individual stadiums off your site. Hopefully somebody releases the new Nats stadium as a standalone download. I really think the 2x jersies and stadiums could be what's screwing me up, but I don't care about that stuff too much. The graphics are worse than current consoles no matter what you do, so why nitpick over something that's dated anyway?

Did you use that resolution changer program? If so, what resoution were you running at? I was running at 1280/1024 or something like that.

if you are running vista you had better have bookoo amount of memoy because it is a hog for memory...i ran the mvp mod on a xp pro machine with only 768 megs of memory a ati 9600 128meg video card and a 2000+ amd athlon cpu with very little choppiness ,,,just turn off items in the taskbar....

So i was talking about changing the resolution within the game itself. I didnt know there was a "Resolution changing" program- what is it? I lowered my resolution settings to 800X600(was playing at 1024X768) and the game is a lot less choppy(still a little choppy) and set all the graphics options to medium, and the graphics are still very solid and the game is somewhat smoother. I was wondering if since i am upgrading to 4GB RAM, if i should upgrade to a 64-bit system, as a 32-bit system only recognizes 3-3.5 GB of the 4GB, or if that 3-3.5 will be plenty and I dont have to go through the annoying process of starting everything all over again because i would have to back everything up and then reinstall.

Instead of 4gb of RAM, why not get 2gb and a video card, be around the same price. You don't need 4gb to run this game.

Because I have an integrated graphics card...so upgrading that would mean someone needs to take apart the motherboard, and Dell isnt gonna do that, but someone who will will prob charge $400+ for that kinda work...tack onto that the price of a good graphics card and its far beyond what I want to pay...

besides, 4GB RAM will have me set in terms of system performance for life...:)...or at least until i get a new lappy...

Haha, so Maestro answered your question about the resolution question, now I'll ask the reverse question of you: How do you change the resolution IN-GAME? Seriously, I didn't see an options menu or anything like that...I figured that was pre-determined by DirectX.

Really the only graphics options I have at all are in the Pause menu where you can change 3D Crowd Density or Player Model Detail. I used the resolution changer, but I'm not even 100% sure it's doing anything. I'd like to be able to change it in-game, or at least tweak some of the other settings to get it running smoother!

Integrated graphics simply means you don't have a graphics card. Nobody needs to take apart the motherboard and it don't cost 400 bucks, lol. Buy a 80 dollar GFX Card and pop it in, just like legos.

As i said before, I have a Intel® GMA X3100 (Integrated) graphics card. I dont think it can be upgraded without touching the motherboard. Anyways, my question is if anyone knows what the resolution changing program under the following address does:

MVP Baseball Game Resolution Changer

http://www.mvpmods.com/Downloads/details/id=3915.html

before I toy with it, anyone use it or knows what it does?

You apparently dont know much about computers so thats fine. How do you plan on putting that 4gb's worth of RAM in there without touching the motherboard?

Your other question, it changes the resolution to whatever you want it too.

it's only because Dell decided to put the 2nd piece of RAM under the keyboard that i need to touch the motherboard to replace the RAM- they used to have both of them under the computer. Anyways, its too much of a hassle to spend money on a good graphics card and to do the replacing myself. in terms of the resolution changing program, the game itself gives you options of 800X600, 1024X768, and whatever the lowest one is- this program gives you more options than that? isnt it at the expense of slowing down gameplay though?

Did you not read my post? There is a discussion link on the download page for the mod.

2 sticks of RAM, both under the computer...? On the desk?

Actually, you don't need to touch the motherboard at all to replace the RAM, or to install new RAM. For the DIMM under the keyboard, remove the keyboard bezel, unscrew the keyboard and flip it over. Place the new stick of RAM into the plastic slot, push the DIMM down toward the motherboard and make sure the metal clips close over the DIMM, and you'e done. For the one under the motherboard in the base, just open the memory cover and install the RAM in the same way as above.

One of the main reasons why the location of the DIMMs was changed was because idiots kept spilling liquid into the keyboard, thus killing both sticks of memory, which were under the keyboard. At least with one under the keyboard and one in the base, they'd really need to screw it over in order to destroy both sticks of RAM.

Alright so I'm having a problem with this too...

Sys Specs:

2.16Ghz Intel C2D

2GB Ram

nVidia 7900

... I should run it just fine. But I don't. Same deal with the choppy graphics, most often while throwing in the infield... I just can't figure it out. It happens on a fresh installation of 05, 05 with any/all of the patches, 07, 07 with the 1x unis... I absolutely love this game and the mods, but the choppy gameplay is a big cloud over it all.

I really can't figure it out...

With PC specs like that, its only one thing that could be the problem. google mini image.

My original CD is scratched badly but it still runs the game... you think that could really be a problem? Are Mini-images illegal? I just checked and MVP05 is like... 100 bucks to buy.. I can't do that.
