Help viewing hidden folders

So I have a little problem I go to my folder options, select the setting for "view hidden files and folders", click apply and OK, but then none of my hidden folders show up. I got back to my folder options, and the setting is changed back to "do not display hidden files and folders". Anyone know what the problem could be? Thanks in advance.

Try changing the "Hidden" key in HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerAdvanced to 1 manually, see if that keeps the setting.

No probs...I know there was a virus or some sort of malware going around a while back that caused some problems with viewing hidden folders. Do you have an update to date virus scanner and malware scanner, like Spybot S&D? Do you have the most recent Windows Updates?

Also, try checking out HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerAdvancedFolderHiddenSHOWALL. There should be a key in there named CheckedValue, and it should be a DWORD with a value of 1. If it exists but isn't a DWORD, delete it and recreate it - create a new DWORD with the name CheckedValue and set it to 1.

If that doesn't help and you don't have a virus or malware, I have no idea.
