Borgi
8 teens charged in videotaped attack LAKELAND, Fla. - Eight teenagers have been arrested on charges alleging they beat another teen in an "animalistic attack" so they could make a videotape to post on YouTube. Seven of them remained in juvenile detention Tuesday, authorities said. A boy who was charged as an adult had been released on bail. Victoria Lindsay was attacked on March 30 by six teenage girls when she arrived at a friend's home, authorities said. One of the girls struck the 16-year-old victim on the head several times and then slammed her head into a wall, knocking her unconscious, according to an arrest report. Later, according to a clip of the video that was released by the Polk County sheriff's office, the teens can be seen blocking a door and hitting Victoria. "It's absolutely an animalistic attack," Sheriff Grady Judd said Tuesday on NBC's "Today." "They lured her into the home for express purpose of filming the attack and posting it on the Internet." Victoria's father, Patrick Lindsay, said the teens intended to post the video on the video-sharing Web site YouTube. Christina Garcia, mother of one of the defendants, said her daughter had turned the tape over to police. The sheriff's office said that after the attack, three of the teens forced the victim into a vehicle and drove her to another location, where she was told she would be given a worse beating if she contacted police. All eight suspects were arrested April 2 and charged with battery and false imprisonment. The three teens who took Lindsay to the second location are also charged with felony kidnapping. Lindsay was treated for a concussion, damage to her left eye and left ear, and numerous bruises, police said. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080408/ap_on_re_us/teen_beating Make sure to click link to vid in top left

Yankee4Life
Check this out....there are even younger kids getting involved with violence. Experts dubious of Ga. 3rd-grader plot By RUSS BYNUM and MIKE STOBBE, Associated Press Writers Wed Apr 2, 7:05 PM ET WAYCROSS, Ga. - Allegations that third-graders hatched an elaborate plot to knock out, handcuff and stab their teacher were met with shock by neighbors and with doubt by psychiatry experts who said it is unlikely that children that young seriously intended to hurt anyone. Police say the plot at Center Elementary School began because the children, ages 8 to 10, were apparently angry after the teacher disciplined one of the students for standing on a chair. Students brought a crystal paperweight, a steak knife with a broken handle, steel handcuffs and other items as part of last week's plot, police said Tuesday. They said nine students were involved, but prosecutors are seeking juvenile charges against only three of them. Experts said children that age are certainly imaginative and capable of creating elaborate games. But Dr. Louis Kraus, a child psychiatry expert at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, said he doubts they would have actually attacked. "The reality is it is highly unlikely they would have been successful at this," Kraus said. "Even if it had begun, it's unclear whether they actually would have followed through with it." Most premeditated acts of student violence in schools usually don't occur until high school, Kraus said. Younger children have been known to bring knives or other weapons to school, experts said, but often it's more a matter of showing off or acting tough than part of a deliberate assault attempt. Police said the plot had been organized enough that some students were assigned specific roles such as covering classroom windows and cleaning up any mess. Most children under the age of 12 don't generally experience the kind of long-standing anger necessary for a premeditated crime, said Dan Mears, an associate professor at Florida State University's College of Criminology and Criminal Justice. "Kids tend to be more spontaneous," Mears said. "If they're angry, they act on it right then." The district attorney is seeking juvenile charges of conspiracy to commit aggravated assault against an 8-year-old boy and two girls, ages 9 and 10. The girls are also charged with bringing weapons to school. News of the alleged plot spread quickly through this small south Georgia city on the northern edge of the Okefenokee Swamp, where residents are preparing for their annual SwampFest celebration this weekend. "They were so young, I just couldn't believe it," said Euleathia Harris, 50, who lives in a public housing complex near the school. "I wouldn't think anything like that would happen in little ol' Waycross. I guess if it can happen in the big cities, it can happen here." Police Chief Tony Tanner said the plot unraveled when a student reported to school officials Friday that a classmate had a knife in her backpack. School officials say they punished all nine students, and some received long-term suspension, but they would not be more specific. Under school system rules, children who bring weapons to school may also face expulsion. Tanner and District Attorney Rick Currie did not immediately return calls seeking comment Wednesday. Shavette Owens, whose 7- and 8-year-old children attend the school, said she was glad officials had taken action, but was still somewhat shaken. "Where were my kids at when these kids had all those weapons?" Owens said. "My heart just dropped, I didn't know what to think." Georgia law prohibits bringing adult criminal charges against children under 13, but places no age limit on children sent to juvenile court. Although juvenile offenders can be locked up in detention centers, Randee Waldman, director of the Barton Juvenile Defender Clinic at Emory University School of Law, said the children accused in Waycross seem far too young for that. "It would take an extraordinary circumstance for a child under the age of 10 to be detained," Waldman said. "Juvenile court is rehabilitative in nature. It's not designed to be punitive." Children so young often aren't considered competent to stand trial, Waldman said, because they lack the maturity to understand even the basics of the legal system. They may also be deemed too young to have had criminal intent, she said.

RaysFTW
Man this is in Florida. Crazy stuff like that always happens here. My teacher told me that some people taped them pushing a homeless guy off the bridge (and obviously he died) and posted the video on youtube just to get a few laughs. Well, they got in trouble not too long after and they got pretty severe punishments. lol

From what I just read it sounds like these kids committed murder.
JoltinJoeCarter
there are so many of these cases, and it hurts to read/watch the thing is, when it involves teens, their punishment is at most a little bit of juvy + probation, and many times mommy and daddy are able to post the bail for their release and full acquittal. MarkB
This is nothing new...it's been going on all over the world for years. Hell, I remember this sort of thing being on the U.K. news as long as 5 years ago.
fred13
I read in the news a couple weeks ago, a couple in their 20's lit a homeless lady on fire in the park. She didn't die, but still some whack stuff.
RaptorQuiz
If that was my daughter on that video, being "lured over," not allowed to leave, and beaten like that - there wouldn't be any ******* trial I can assure you of that. I would've slit every one of those little ******* bitches' throats. And the two tough-guy lookouts outside? Time to learn what it means to be a man, kids. SESbb30
a thing i dont get is, people hurting homeless people and laughing about it. like pushing them off bridges and lighting them on fire?! these people have a screw loose if they do that kind of stuff to homeless people. Yankee4Life
That sounds like something my friend would do to get a sexual stimulation. No lie. How do I know these people  I'd rather have you know those people instead of me. Looking back on when I was a kid I guess my friends and I must have had pretty boring lives since we never came close to doing anything like what these kids have done in this thread. I am not saying we didn't pull pranks and things like that, but to go this far to intentionally hurt someone, we never did that.

Yankee4Life
To be brutally honest with everyone here -and believe me I am not knocking anyone here- but I was raised in a much better world for a kid to grow up as compared to today. There was accountability back then. You did something wrong back then, get in a fight at school, steal a candy bar, stay out late, etc, you had to answer for it. Either by getting grounded or getting a smack in the head or both. Now if you smack one of your kids they'll find a lawyer.
BigRog
I think my child hood was basically Go to School, Come Home and do homework, Play Sega, Go to bed. In the Fall I played football after school for the town team. In the summer I played baseball for the town league. Never had time to screw around till around 16 when I started driving. Even then all i did was go to the mall on Fridays and looking back, damn that was boring.

Yankee4Life
I go back further than you but we did similar stuff. Sega wasn't around at that time. In fact, no console was. I'd get home from school, try to do some homework, go out and do my paper route, and after dinner I would either do homework all night or go outside and play sports. We played football, baseball and hockey. During the summer we just played ball all day and when we weren't playing ball we were playing a baseball board game. And I'll take what I did then over what these idiots are doing these days to get their kicks.
Kccitystar
Teenagers today are taught that absolutely nothing is their fault. And that they can get away with anything. Whats that, you got bad grades? It must be the terrible teachers down at the high school. Never mind the fact that you neglected to do any homework or read anything. When did the tide turn from fearing your parents to fearing other kids? I would've taken a black eye from a classmate every day of the week rather than be late home or to practice. And not for nothing, but if I ever did come home with an undeserved black eye, my parents would have been at that kid's house in a nanosecond. Not in a rage, but just to get a good look at the puncher and lay down a little law with the parents. Granted, that information would have been disseminated to all male cousins who would then stalk the kid for a while until he or she thought better of retaliation. Point is, kids don't have anything to fear. They really don't. If you're giving your kid a luxury SUV as a gift, you have no control, and probably no clue who your kid's friends are or where they spend their time. And you're the cause of the plague. I'm 16 and I must say I am scared shitless of my parents... I left them a note to tell them my grades last quarter and then bolted. i also get a 94 honda civic as my first car... man I'd really like a luxury SUV. But I would agree with you. I live in a rich town so all my friends are spoiled and all that jazz. But I think parents still have control over there kids except in few situations. Most of my friends are stupid, cause they play football... no offense.... but they ended gettin shitty grades and bein grounded all summer. So i still think parents have an idea of what they are doin.
RaptorQuiz
lol, apparently our profanity filter does not recognize "shitty." And, I agree KC. Where the heck are the parents these days? It seems like all parents wanna be friends, are afraid to be the "bad guys" these days. If I acted like any of these freakin' brats these days, my father would've beaten me half to death, and I would've wondered why he didn't beat me the other half of the way if I did anything remotely like these animals these days. The zoo needs new zookepers, cuz the animals are out of control.
mikey_h99
All i can say is im absolutly shocked at the way young ppl are acting these days, i am only 21 but when i was still in school id do my work, come home and play watever. On the weekends id play baseball in the summer and soccer in winter. I never went out lookin for fights, i still havent stared driving so i dont go out and do stupid stuff in my car and i dont even really drink. I go to work at 5 am come home at 4 pm and work around the house till dinner, and on the weekends i hang with the family and friends. As i wait at my bus stop of an afternoon on my way home i see 10 yr olds walking around, riding there bikes across the busy roads, just barely being missed by cars. 13 or 14 yr old kids out walking around on the streets or riding skateboards or watever at 8pm or later and not to mention what i hear coming out of young ppls mouths on the buses. You hear swearing(even the young girls have worse mouths on them then old sailors) talk about parties and alcohol and drugs seeing kids as young as 12 smoking. I hear 13 or 14 year olds talking about having sex in school lockerooms and at these pareies they go to. Its disgraceful i sure as hell wasnt brought up like that and never would i resort to that stuff no matter wat ive gone thru in my life. Most parents just have no idea these days. Kids just have no respect for anyone, to bad all us ppl with our heads screwed on cant just go out and beat some sense into these ppl.
