I. Forum rules

These items are The Law. Violations of the rules will result in immediate action by moderators or admins no matter who you are.

1. You are expected to read and be familiar with the Rules.

Failure to abide by the rules will result in warnings and bans.

2. The following items are prohibited:

- Pornography or sexual material of any kind. There is no place for that here.

- Links to illegal files (music, warez, CD cracks/codes, etc...)

- Hate speech in any form (including racism, sexism, etc...)

- Profanity, especially in subject lines (You all know the ones)

- Spamming multiple copies of your thread.

- Hijacking threads (thanks to snepp)

The moderators reserve the right to decide what qualifies as spam. Linking to outside websites, or putting them in your signature, is accepted, but please do not start topics dedicated to promoting them.

3. No profanity or sexual material in Topics or Icons.

4. MVPmods Reserves the right to terminate or ban an account at any time, for any reason, without warning, notification, or explanation.

II. Forum Etiquette

These items are not law, but rather suggestions. No threatening and making mods and admins sound like they are to be reckonned with. We are not promoting that you need to suck up to them and be their friend. And no threatening to ban. Present the rules. Period.

1. Pointing out Spelling/Grammar errors isnt necessary.

The best way to improve the overall presentation of the forums is not to post in every poorly written thread complaining about it. Instead, practice what you preach: try to write reasoned, well-thought out, well-written posts.

2. Post count, length of time on the forums, or any other means of measurement does not absolve you of responsibility.

If anything, we expect long-term members to behave in a more mature fashion, and help make these forums a great place for discussion with gamers!

3. Youre not a moderator.

So theres no need to post in someones topic saying This will be closed soon! or why did you write this? or demanding that the moderators close the topic or ban the member. In fact, this is one of the quickest and easiest ways to get on the moderators bad sides. Theres nothing more unpleasant than having someone else tell you how to do your job.

If someone is being exceedingly disruptive, feel free to bring it to a moderators attention via private messaging or email.

4. You do not have the right to insult/attack/etc someone for ANY reason.

People are going to ask questions that have already been asked, bring up topics that have already been discussed, and so forth. These things happen. If youre not interested in the topic at hand, simply dont post!

5. Try to stay on topic.

6. Only one username per user please.

There is really no good reason to have more than one username. If you get suspended or banned for some reason and decide to just create another account please be aware that there are ways to track you by your ip address. This will result in your ip being banned from the entire site.

Yeah, I guess it's better late than never :)

I'll just use this as a base and maybe refine it as needed. I agree with you on the "hate speech" rule. I don't mind when it's all in fun but some people take it too far.

As far as I know it is me, but to be safe I'll double check with my wife when she gets home (stranger things have happened).

I'm done hijacking this thread now...back on topic.

Hijacking threads should be added to the list of things that are outlawed.

Oh, to expand on the hijacking idea....

Trolling.

Not really a big issue as everyone here is a fan of MVP baseball, but when looking at the Yankees thread I see a bit of it.

Hypothetical scenario ensues...

A fan of "Team A" goes into thread for "Team B" and starts posting sweet nothings with the obvious intent to incite retaliation. There's a not-so-fine line (yes, not-so-fine, usually it's pretty obvious) between intelligent discussion and being a "tool".

Now if fan of "Team A" starts a new thread "I hate Team B and I think they suck", I don't have alot of problems with that so long as they stay closer to the intelligent side as opposed to the tool side.

I *think* that made sense.

I'll just ban the entire proxy network, htaccess files are your friend.

As well you should snepp. I wrote this guy a e-mail some time ago to ask him to pick a name he wanted to keep. I knew he had Krawhitham and Mindwarped. He didn't get back to me. So now Mindwarped is banned because I was forced to make a choice.

Nevermind, it was already added.

Oh yeah?? WHEN was it added? On "Tue Nov 09, 2004 4:57 pm" obviously....

THEREFORE, before THEN, creating multiple accounts on the forum can be construed as perfectly legitimate since there was no official rule prohibiting it..
