AstroEric
Commiseration means that we all collectively feel misery over our fantasy league teams. Mine should be pretty decent, but everyone on my team is tanking so far. I'm in a 12-team keeper league that I finished second-to-last in last year, and had hoped to improve this year. It was a bad year for free agents, however, and after the guy before me picked A-Rod, the next best was Torii Hunter. I took Howie Kendrick instead, having foolishly dealt away Chase Utley last year. Kendrick's putting up good numbers, but he's one of the few I have that is, plus he keeps getting hurt. The team looks like this: C - Russell Martin 1B - Ryan Howard 2B - Howie Kendrick 3B - Ryan Zimmerman SS - Troy Tulowitzki OF - Carlos Lee OF - Carl Crawford OF - Adam Dunn UTIL - Delmon Young BENCH - Hunter Pence BENCH - Mike Jacobs BENCH - J.R. Towles BENCH - Orlando Hudson BENCH - Edgar Renteria SP - Roy Oswalt SP - Jeremy Bonderman SP - Francisco Liriano SP - Javier Vazquez SP - John Lackey SP - Felix Hernandez SP - Livan Hernandez SP - Joe Blanton SP - Jair Jurrjens SP - Clay Buchholz SP - Micah Owings RP - Mariano Rivera RP - Joaquim Soria RP - Chad Cordero Lately, I've been starting Renteria over Tulo, and Jacobs over Howard. And I've been sitting Oswalt and Liriano, who I'd hoped would be the aces of my team this year. ARGH!
Mav3rek
My team is terrible. It's a rotis league, and I'm in dead last and going nowhere quickly. It's not that the talent I picked is bad, it's just that everyone is struggling at the same time. Ortiz, Sabathia, Pudge, Andruw Jones, Phil Hughes, Dontrelle Willis (who's now on the DL), Dan Uggla. All of these players are just really bad right now and it's killing my team.
kgbaseball
I'm in the same boat as Mav. I just think I have a bunch of notoriously slow starters, and once the weather gets warm, their production will heat up.

angryrat
AstroEric, how many players do you keep each year in your league? And also... What is A-Rod doing not being kept by somebody? The best guys available in my keeper league draft this year was Eric Bedard and Carlos Lee. (10 team league and we keep 5.)
AstroEric
We kept 15 this year, but we're also doing this thing where free agents in the MLB are free agents in our league. So someone was sad to see A-Rod go, even though he could've re-signed with the Yankees before filing.
RaptorQuiz
Thread resurrection! lol. My crappy fantasy baseball team, as of today: C Brian McCann (ATL) 1B Mark Teixeira (ATL) 2B Brian Roberts (BAL) 3B Scott Rolen (TOR) SS Edgar Renteria (DET) OF Rick Ankiel (STL) OF Matt Holliday (COL) OF Adam Dunn (CIN) UTIL Troy Glaus (STL) UTIL Milton Bradley (TEX) Bench David Murphy (TEX) Bench Yadier Molina (STL) Bench Stephen Drew (ARI) Bench Jose Lopez (SEA) DL Alfonso Soriano (CHC) DL Josh Willingham (FLA) SP Tim Lincecum (SF) SP Ben Sheets (MIL) RP Huston Street (OAK) RP Trevor Hoffman (SD) P Ervin Santana (LAA) P Erik Bedard (SEA) P Justin Duchscherer (OAK) Bench Jesse Litsch (TOR) Bench Jonathan Sanchez (SF) Bench Daniel Cabrera (BAL) This trainwreck is good enough for a 46-40-4 (.533) record. That's 19 games back from first place, in 5th place (out of 10). My head-to-head stats thus far in the following categories: R: 4-5-0 (303) HR: 6-3-0 (85) RBI: 5-4-0 (313) SB: 3-4-2 (38) AVG: 4-5-0 (.279) W: 5-2-2 (26) SV: 4-5-0 (24) K: 4-5-0 (365) ERA: 6-3-0 (3.93) WHIP: 5-4-0 (1.34) Yuck. SpaceFlare
Just when my team is starting to heat up and I thought I could have a solid chance of becoming good again. Alfonso Soriano goes down. So I have 2 players on the DL with only one DL spot on my team. The other hurt player I have is Rickie Weeks. So much for that I guess. Back to being 6th place again, after I managed to climb up to 4th in my h2h league/

Back to being 6th place again, after I managed to climb up to 4th in my h2h league/ You could have my team. The Disabled All*Stars. Seriously, I'm trying to figure out how I'm 9-1 with all my injuries. I just lost 3 players this week to the DL (Pujols, Soriano and V-Mart). And, I had Holliday and Wells on the DL last week. Good thing they came back, because I need to use those spots for the two of my other guys (we allow 2 DL spots) I just acquired Soriano for an Burnett last week. Plus, Wagner blows back-to-back saves. I just realized my other closer (Percival) is still on the DL. Good thing my starting pitching and free agents signings have worked out well. Conor Jackson/Carlos Quentin were nice pickups. Two Teams First one (9-1, 10 team league): C Martinez (DL) 1B Pujols (Keeper, DL) 2B Phillips SS Reyes (Keeper) 3B Rameriz LF Holliday (Keeper, just off DL) CF Wells (just of DL) RF Quentin DH Hamilton Backup C Pierzynski 1B Jackson (FA signing) 2B/SS/3B Escobar (eligble at all 3) 1B/SS/3B Guillen (eligble at all 3) LF Soriano (just acquired when Wells/Holliday went down, now DL) RF/CF Rios Rotation Halladay (keeper) Harden (waiting for the injury) Sabathia (keeper, back in draft pool next year, slow-start) Hernandez (new keeper for next year) Volquez Closers Wagner Wood Bullpen Percival (DL) Ervin Santana Sheets Minors Evan Longoria and Bartolo Colon (have kept them in the minors) We have 5 keepers signed to contracts (1 through 5 years); each year keepers drop a year and the 1-yr goes back in the draft pool and we get a new keeper at 5-years Second Team (6-4, 1 Game Back, 14 teams) C V-Mart (keeper, DL) 1B Jackson 2B Lopez SS Escobar 3B Rolen (picked up when Blalock went on the DL the 2nd time) LF Holliday (keeper, just got bacl) CF Ellsbury RF Franceour DH Ankiel (all OF) Bench SS HArdy (shoulder injury) C Molina 1B Votto (playing quite abit actually, because Ellsbury/Ankiel have been dinged up) Pitching Halladay (keeper) Hernandez (new keeper) Wainright (DL, was gonna be my new keeper) Cook Francis Perez (just picked him up, when Wainright went DL) Baker (i've picked him 3 times this year, every other guy keeps getting injured) (I had Westbrook, Pineiro and someone else) Carpenter (DL) Bullpen Wagner (ughhhh) Wood Percival (DL) SAme rules as above, but only 3 keepers and 1 DL spot

WTF are you talking about? I was referring only to the fantasy team. Soriano is on the DL, so he can't help your fantasy team, and Fukudome does not put up quality fantasy numbers, despite solid REAL-LIFE play. Settle down there, trigger. RaptorQuiz
Wow. My fantasy team has been struggling - but tonight was pretty amazing - led by 2 or 3 guys. Here's who was in for tonight, I included stats that count for my league: C: Brian McCann (ATL): 2-4, 2 runs, 1 RBI, 1 homerun. 1B: Mark Teixeira (ATL): 3-4, 3 runs, 4 RBIs, 3 homeruns. 2B: Brian Roberts (BAL): 1-3, 1 run, 1 stolen base. 3B: Troy Glaus (STL): Nothing. SS: Stephen Drew (ARI): 1-4. OF: Matt Holliday (COL): 1-4. OF: Adam Dunn (CIN): Nothing (sat, had no replacement). OF: Rick Ankiel (STL): Nothing. UTIL: Edgar Renteria (DET): 1-4, 2 runs, 1 stolen base. UTIL: Scott Rolen (TOR): 1-2, 1 run, 2 RBIs, 1 homerun. SP: Justin Duchscherer (OAK): 7.2 IP, 1 ER, 3 K. SP: Tim Lincecum (SF): 5.0 IP, 5 ER, 8 K. So not everybody had a GREAT evening, and I was forced to play Dunn even though he had a day off, since my other FOUR outfielders weren't playing either: David Murphy (TEX) day off, Milton Bradley (TEX) day off, Alfonso Soriano (CHC) DL, Josh Willingham (FLA) DL... and Lincecum had a short day but lots of K's... oh well. With my crappy team, all that offense qualifies as a great night. lol.
SpaceFlare
Made some trades on my team, hopefully I can start raking around the all-star break. Recently made trades: Give: Cliff Lee (his last start for me was his 11 K performance), Adam Dunn Get: Francisco Rodriguez (needed a solid closer), Joba Chamberlain, Carl Crawford Dunn's averages are killing me and he gives me no speed so I deemed him expendable. I can't help but think Lee will fall back down to Earth, but the Indians fan in me wants Lee to keep producing the way he has. J.J Putz has been horrible. Jon Rauch and BJ Ryan were my only closers so I went for K-Rod. Joba's more of a throw-in. I still think this'll pan out as a steal of a deal. Give: Jay Bruce, Zack Greinke For: Robinson Cano Greinke's been terrific for me, and he's a big loss. On the other hand, I got a then struggling Robinson Cano for him. And it appears I timed the trade well. Cano's first game for my team, he went 3 for 4, with 2 doubles and 3 RBI. (My league counts doubles) Next game he went 1 for 3 with a homer lol. Hopefully his bat stays hot and he can deliver for my fantasy team. My team atm: C Joe Mauer (Min - C) 1B Jason Giambi (NYY - 1B) 2B Robinson Canó (NYY - 2B) 3B Evan Longoria (TB - 3B) SS José Reyes (NYM - SS) OF Chris Young (Ari - OF) OF Ãlex RÃos (Tor - OF) OF Carl Crawford (TB - OF) Util Rickie Weeks (Mil - 2B) BN Chipper Jones (Atl - 3B) BN Milton Bradley (Tex - OF) DL Alfonso Soriano (ChC - OF) DL SP Jo-Jo Reyes (Atl - SP) SP Manny Parra (Mil - SP,RP) RP B.J. Ryan (Tor - RP) RP Francisco RodrÃguez (LAA - RP) P Jon Rauch (Was - RP) P Félix Hernández (Sea - SP) P Dustin McGowan (Tor - SP) BN Jorge Campillo (Atl - SP,RP) BN Joba Chamberlain (NYY - SP,RP) BN J.J. Putz (Sea - RP) DL I'm only riding the hot hands with starting pitching. Hernandez being the only true stud among my starting pitching. But it's an h2h league so I can just lean on adding a bunch of 2 start pitchers every week (to help with the "Apperances" category) or hope my offense rakes so I can get wins.
