DeuceBlades
I was taking a look at the number of members we have, the number we have that are new today, and the average number we get per day. Now it doesnt take a genius to figure this out, but on average, we are picking up 55-65 new MVP'ers everyday. We will eclipse the 100,000 members by this time 2010, give or take 55-60 EA, do you see what you are losing? Now what I am getting at, is the potential was always there, for this PC game to succeed. This website "THANK YOU TRUES" has increased the number of users over the last year or so, because I have talked to so many that have either bought it online, or picked up a used copy at EB games or where ever they picked it up. Frankly its none of my buisness, but I am glad they are here to help support this great community of members and MODDERS that have strived to take it to the next level, and keep this game from getting old. I have contributed to this cause, but Im not tooting my horn, Im tooting for all of you that have donated to the cause, be it financial, mod projects, or just giving information and being friendly. I cant wait for 2008 version Kraw, and I know its gonna be a good one, if I know you the way we all know you. You and the other modders, KC,Maestro,UMachines,Hory,Totte,KG,Trues,TerminatorKorea,Pirate,Sean O,Big O,Spungo, all of you led the way for the new modders and so many to mention and all of you deserve credit somewhere, and this thread is dedicated to all the hard work and effort put in to every little detail. I apologise for leaving out many of you, its not purposely done, I just cant remember all of you as I am writing this I was gone for about a month and I come to find that a few people had beefs with each other, and left. Not sure who those were, but I hope everything was squashed and everyone is back. Its like a brotherhood of baseball fans here, and I am glad to be a part of it. Heres to another successful year of great baseball!!! Jay Blades Wallbanger

RaptorQuiz
EA is not allowed to make a new baseball game But, if they were (or, when they are, again)... would they (for the PC)? I like pc baseball games............................ :hmph:
Sean O
EA is not allowed to make a new baseball game Not allowed by whom? Surely they could create a Pro Evolution Soccer-type game without any MLB involvement. I would guess that a free-form game intended to mimic the majors would have a hell of a lot more draw than any college baseball game.

I would guess that a free-form game intended to mimic the majors would have a hell of a lot more draw than any college baseball game. ... and if they made it to be moddable like MVP05 is then people here would be able to mod it and possibly they would be able to pick up where they left off 3 years ago after they get the license again (if they do). But, my question is ..... if EA makes such a game with or without the knowledge of knowing people would mod the game to make it more realistic (just in order to compete with Take Two and their MLB game), would it pose a legal issue for EA so that any licensing agreement or copyrights between MLB / MLBPA and Take Two would be violated? RaptorQuiz
I'm thinking if there was a game that seemed as if it were designed using non-MLB information, but also designed with the INTENTION of allowing it to be modified by the users after it hit the market... ...suddenly, the legal entities involved would be much more interested in this site, and our usage of registered logos, names, graphics, ads, etc.
meteamo
Okay. It's always safer to protect your own behinds now-a-days. But, since EA (or at least some of the people at EA) is aware of this site, I guess that may be one reason they wouldn't make a game like that (unless if they make something that can't be modded). Raptor .... I was about to ask you if you can respond to this thread when I saw you in the shout but you did anyway ... I guess my ESPN was working tonight. RaptorQuiz
Yeah, not having my own PC is really starting to suck - that's why I've been way less active (and less quick to respond/participate in threads, etc) around here. My computer took a dump about 2 weeks ago, and I've been forced to use my work laptop (supplied and monitored by the company), or my girlfriend's computer (at her house) if I want to get on the stinkin' net. I really need to build (or buy, if I become lazy, stupid, and rich all at the same time) a new PC, but I've fallen so far out of current knowledge that I've had to enlist the assistance of others to help me put together a decent list of components to build a new system (upper-mid-range-ish)... not like I have time to put the F'ing thing together anyway, though, since I just finished 2 major exams (1 federal, 1 state) for my new job, and now have to go to a week-long training class. meteamo
Congrads on finishing the 2 exams for your job and good luck with the class. I just did 2 exams for a certification I needed for a new job too. Hopefully, we'll both make more money soon. You can buy a PC and I can buy Take Two stock. Money is Good. Greed is Good. Well, ladies and gentlemen, we're not here to indulge in fantasy, but in political and economic reality. America, America has become a second-rate power. Its trade deficit and its fiscal deficit are at nightmare proportions. Now, in the days of the free market, when our country was a top industrial power, there was accountability to the stockholder. The Carnegies, the Mellons, the men that built this great industrial empire, made sure of it because it was their money at stake. Today, management has no stake in the company! . . . . . . . . . The point is, ladies and gentleman, that greed -- for lack of a better word -- is good. Greed is right. Greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of its forms -- greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge -- has marked the upward surge of mankind.

Not only can you download free tracks with corporate logos splashed across them everywhere, you can download recreations of real life racing series and car models. The game was designed for community involvement and only shipped with a few unlicensed cars and fantasy tracks. the FIA, NASCAR, WTCC etc. haven't made a peep, and I can guarantee that Formula 1 is as greedy an organization as you can find. All we need is a bat-and-ball simulator.
RaptorQuiz
Hysterical that you chose to quote Wall Street, considering the two exams I just passed were the Series 7 (S.E.C. General Securities Representative Exam) and the Series 66 (FINRA Unified Combined State Law Exam), qualifying me to be an agent for a broker/dealer and a representative for an investment adviser. DeuceBlades
I know they are not allowed, until the MLB contract is up, if they ever decide to go back to baseball. I dont get EA, how could they monopolise football, make a crap product, and get rid of baseball, which by far was a better product? MLB version is ok, dont get me wrong, but 4 more years of R&D, MVP would have been the elite franchise.
BigRog
I dont get EA, how could they monopolise football, make a crap product, and get rid of baseball, which by far was a better product? Back when they made the deal, The Madden series was much bigger then the MVP baseball series and Madden made more money. They decided to make an exclusive deal with Madden because it made them so much money. I don't know if they were thinking of doing the same with MVP but before they could 2k formed a deal with the MLB. IMO, if ea still had the license, Madden would still be bigger (Popularity and money income) then MVP because Football has the bigger fan base. BigPaPa
1) Actually Baseball has bigger fan base. However the differentials in ages among several other things has made MAdden a bigger seller. 2) If ea ever makes another MLB game it wont be out for PC for several reasons. One being the ability to pirate software so easily but also the fact that its less work. One 360 or PS3 is almost exactly the same as another. This can not be said for a PC and making a game for a console and then adapting it to work on wide a enough variety of PCs to make it succesful has become more difficult. Especially when it is a game that appeals to a wide Sports fan base and not just to a core of PC gamers.

BigRog
sony can make one because the contract is for 3rd party and their game is first party.. 2k makes for others while mlb just makes for their own system.
